Clarins Total Cleansing Oil

I suppose it was only a matter of time before Clarins came out with their version of Cleansing Oil. After all, this type of cleanser is very popular among Asian women, just look at Shu Uemura which comes out with new versions every so often.

Clarins Total Cleansing Oil contains two organic ingredients, namely olive oil and perilla seed oil. Olive oil is for softening, nourishing and deep cleansing skin while providing hydrating and antioxidant benefits. Perilla seed oil is for soothing skin irritation.

Compared to some other cleansing oils, Total Cleansing Oil is rather runny. I use it just like other cleansing oils by massaging it on to my skin followed by a bit of water to emulsify. The scent is of course botanical and quite pleasant, the kind of scent one associates with Clarins products.

However, it didn’t cleanse all my eye make-up. It left eye shadow residues particularly on the inner corners of my eyes and some mascara. Other than that, it is effective in removing foundation, powder and blush.

It has a softening effect on skin but compared to Shu Uemura’s cleansing oils, it isn’t as effective in removing all make-up. This might appeal to some because of the inclusion of organic plant oils. Retails at RM110/150ml.
