Confessions Of A Shopaholic Part 3 : Wonderstruck, Taylor Swift’s Debut Fragrance

Even non-Taylor Swift fans like me have to admit that this young singer is a music phenomenon. She’s achieved so much in just a few years and won so many awards and accolades. At the age of 21, she’s already won 4 Grammies and there’s probably going to be more to come as she has hit after hit.

Now Taylor Swift has partnered with Elizabeth Arden to come up with her signature fragrance, Wonderstruck. The name Wonderstruck comes from the song “Enchanted” on Taylor’s current album, Speak Now. She wrote the lyrics “”I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home” about the first time you meet someone.

Wonderstruck has been created by Taylor with perfumer Olivier Gillotin of Givaudan, the inspiration came from Taylor’s favorite memories and scents. Wonderstruck is a gourmand floral; a charming and sparkling surprise of vibrant fruits, kissed by a bouquet of soft petals and a touch of sweet indulgence.

The fragrance contains the following notes:-

Top notes

  • freesia
  • apple blossom
  • raspberry

Middle notes

  • vanilla
  • honeysuckle
  • white hibiscus

Base notes

  • golden amber
  • sandalwood
  • peach

Wonderstruck will appeal to those who prefer lighter scents, there isn’t anything heavy or cloying about this fragrance. It is a perfect fragrance for daytime and I think there is a good balance between the fruity and floral notes. However and perhaps because it’s on the light side, the staying power isn’t as long as I’d like it to be. There’s just a faint hint of it after 2 hours of wear.

It’s not going to be my favourite scent, not because I dislike the scent but because I prefer my fragrances to last at least 4+ hours but   the bottle itself is gorgeous, beautiful and outstandingly unique. There is nothing quite like it so much so that I’ll definitely keep the bottle long after the fragrance is finished. I love the design because of the charms around the cap. There’s a dove, birdcage and Moravian star, signature decorative elements that evoke Taylor’s whimsical flair. These charms were hand-picked by Taylor and reminiscent of her style.

The bottle is in deep purple and semi-opaque so that if you hold it up to the light, you can easily see how much fragrance there is left in the bottle. The iridescent rainbow finish has never before been used in the fragrance industry and this is what gives the bottle a magical glow.

The charms appear once again within the intricate detail of the embossed cap, capturing Taylor’s love of hidden messages. The carton is a modern day patchwork, homage to the many fabrics Taylor has collected on her travels. The finishing touch to the package is a gold embossed 13, which fans will recognize as Taylor’s lucky number. There is also a gold embossed dove on the cap but you’ll have to look very, very closely in order to spot it. It’s like looking for a hidden code in a painting! The embellishments on the cap are so intricate.

The collection is available now.
