Back in the good old days when I was a kid, I would occasionally be taken to Merlin Hotel (where Concorde is now) or Federal Hotel for a dim sum lunch. Nowadays, we don’t have to go to hotel restaurants any more for our dim sum fix as so many dim sum restaurants have sprouted up all over the city, from al fresco places to fine dining ones that rival hotel restaurants.

However, there’s still something quite different about dining in a hotel restaurant so on the spur of the moment, I decided to try the dim sum at Dynasty Restaurant, the portions are very satisfying and all the dim sum you see here are priced at RM10.60 before taxes.

While they are all excellent, my favourites are the Shanghai Dumpling which comes with some mushrooms in a hearty stock and the Yam Puffs were so good, I had another plate as they aren’t at all oily. The Prawn Mango Oat Roll was also notable as it’s crunchy and crispy with generous fillings.

  1. The shanghai dumpling looks really appetising! Yes, it is common now to go for dim sum for breakfast but can’t always have too much of a good thing. There are many choices for dim sum too.
