One of the best ways to discover or in my case, re-discover a beauty brand is to have a makeover. This is where you get to learn about their skincare and make-up. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about the brand, you may discover something new during the makeover. I had a Diorskin Star Makeover less than 2 weeks ago and it was one of the most fun makeovers I have had in a long time, largely thanks to my make-up artist, Dior’s Chief MUA, Matt Ng.
Of course, before any makeover one should prep skin because as well know, good skin is the ideal canvas for fabulous make-up and what could be more fab than Dior make-up?
To begin, my skin was thoroughly and effectively cleansed with Instant Cleansing Water.
Instant Cleansing Water cleanses and tones the skin in a single step. Thanks to the power of micelles that instantly trap all impurities and traces of makeup, just a single wipe of the skin with a cotton pad is needed. Key ingredient here is Pure Lily, very lovely scent.
At the counter and with no access to running water, Dior Prestige La Mousse wasn’t used but at home, this would be the 2nd step of cleansing. Dior Prestige La Mousse deeply cleanses skin with air-whipped foam.
Capture Totale Multi-Perfection Concentrated Lotion hydrates and prepares skin for skincare applied afterwards.
One Essential is Dior’s detoxifying and energizing booster serum, the 1st fundamental skincare step for all women, whatever their age.
Capture Totale Multi-Perfection Emulsion delivers all Capture Totale’s anti-ageing technology deep within the skin, right down to the stem cells, for the ultimate in global anti-ageing correction. Has a lightweight texture and easily absorbs into skin.
Capture Totale Eyes Essential corrects all the visible signs of ageing in the eye area, such as crow’s feet lines and wrinkles and the loss of firmness and radiance.
Multi-Perfection UV Base screens out harmful rays (UVA and UVB) with its broad-spectrum UV filters.
These are the new Diorskin Star (11 shades), the first “light-boosting” foundation. For the first time ever, Dior has infused a foundation with this two-dimensional light, promising a perfect complexion and beautiful, ultimately radiant skin that is luminous and even, without dark spots or discolouration, and that glows more and more, day after day, with a refined texture.
Enriched with a concentrate of pigments and illuminating skincare ingredients, it combines the radiance of make-up and the effectiveness of skincare in a single formula. It is extremely lightweight, feels “barely there” and gives a natural glow so you may not even need a primer before applying this.
Thanks to the “Light-Pulsion” Complex Lighting Technology with a new generation of hollow silica beads loaded with mineral pigments, skin glows beautifully without shine and even skintone is revealed by colour filter pigments. Just like camera filters, they brighten dull skin. Gradually and with every application the skin becomes clearer and sculpted, graced with purer and more intense radiance.
I was rather taken with this egg-shaped blender sponge! I couldn’t take my eyes off it. This is the Backstage Blender Professionnal Finish Fluid Foundation Sponge (yeah, the name is THAT long) and you won’t believe the price, it’s just RM38! Hellooooo, this is Dior and wouldn’t have expected this to be less than RM50!
For perfect alchemy between the skin and the foundation that generates powerful and perfecting radiance, Dior has created the Backstage Blender Fluid Foundation Sponge. This tool was designed by Dior make-up artists, and is the fruit of their studio experience of creating dream skin for so many years, but is also a tool designed to make application easier for women on a daily basis.
This egg-shaped, perfectly ergonomic sponge has multi-dimensional reach across the face. Unlike fingers or rectangular sponges with harsh edges that collide with features, it allows perfect blending on every part of the face, even the most difficult to reach. Made from “soft-touch” very high-density material, this extremely smooth sponge blends Diorskin Star formula perfectly in an adjustable manner, revealing a polished finish that achieves ultimate radiance and a precision-sculpted face.
The wide lateral part of the sponge can be used for blending from the centre of the face outwards. The tip then takes over, working on more specific, difficult to reach areas of the face (sides of the nose, smile lines, etc.). The base can be used for sculpting volume and adjusting coverage levels in areas that require more correction.
My face looked so much brighter and glowing after Matt had applied the foundation. He used the wider part of the Backstage Blender to blend and the tip to dab foundation under the eyes and on the sides of my nose. Love this sponge, I am going to forever get back-ups, it is an invaluable foundation blending tool.
Dior has new 5 Couleurs Palettes and these are the textures in each palette:-
- matte shadows are muted yet intense
- wet-look textures bathe eyes in iridescent light
- satin shadows glide on with softness
- ultra glittery shadows give expression with shimmer.
There are infinite possibilities but Dior has dreamed up two looks for you to create from two trios of colours:-
A natural, daytime look can be achieved with the upper trio of eye shadows. When combined with the central shade, the two lighter eye shadows create natural, every day shading.
A more sophisticated look, perfect for the evening, can be achieved with the lower trio of the palette. The two more extreme eye shadows at the bottom, combined with the central shade, create more daring, deeper shading for an intensely seductive look.
I chose 276 Carré Bleu Palette for the makeover as I like the combination of blues in this palette, very striking yet not too difficult to pull off for day wear. There’s sky, denim and electric blue in this palette and the white highlighter shade is very useful for toning down if you think the blues are too intense.
Matt used all 5 colours to great effect thanks to his expertise in blending! I love this palette as the colours complement each other so perfectly and it is easy to use.
The lightest shades of Diorskin Star, my shade is the lightest 010 Ivory.
These are the darkest shades of Diorskin Star, I think you will agree with me that there’s definitely a shade for any woman of colour.
On my lips is 788 Fleur Bleue Rouge Dior Baume, so hydrating.
Many thanks to Dior Malaysia for inviting me for this wonderful makeover and making me feel like a star!
Backstage Blender Professionnal Finish Fluid Foundation Sponge is just RM38! It very much cheaper than the Beauty Blender which cost RM100! It is so affordable!
38 really unbelievable mac sells one for 80 even sephora is more expensive
So flawless!
what?! RM 38 for the blender sponge? You must be kidding me!
Yah that was the 1st thing that came to my mind when I was told the price. I was like “get outta here” and “noooo waaayyyyy”!
And this is not other brands but Dior!
Exactly! The price is a winner. I thought everything in Dior was at least RM100. This is a really useful sponge too. MAC sponge is not even this price.
I know right! Did you manage to get yourself one? 😀
