Embassy Of The Republic Of Korea Hosts Korean Film Festival 2019

Following last year’s positive response, the Korean Film Festival, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, is pleased to embark on another mission of introducing the diverse flavours of Korean cinema to Malaysia audiences, from 21-24 November at GSC Mid Valley.

This year’s files are also comprised of various genres; what makes this year’s film festival special is that Korean Embassy carefully selected 5 movies of all different genres:

First of all, they are introducing one movie, which attracted around 7 million audiences in Korea. This movie is “Secretly Greatly (2013)”, in which Kim Soo-Hyun, movie star, played a role of North Korean elite Special Forces. This movie is mainly action movie but it also features Comedy and Drama. You can feel the great action and comedy which Mr. Kim Soo-Hyun plays in the movie.

Secondly, “The Classified File (2015)” is also great movie. The Genre are Drama and Crime. It attracted around 3 million audiences in Korea. This movie shows one episode in which a veteran detective got the special request from the parents of a missing child to investigate her case. You may watch the delicate process of solving the case.

Thirdly, “Kundo: Age of the Rampant (2014)” is the historical action movie, which attracted around 5 million. This movie shows certain historical event when the feudal Joseon is plagued with numerous natural disasters, poor harvest, poverty, hunger and death but the rich nobles are only concerned with their own wealth and continue to exploit and persecute the poor. In this dark period, KUNDO was a single shred of hope for the poor, an entity which can be the subject of fear to unjust nobles, and this club tried to change the society. You can see the historical background of Korea during this period.

Fourthly, “Wonderful Nightmare (2015)” is a lovely comedy movie which shows the real love among family. And it also teaches us which value is really important to us, who are living in this busy world. By God’s mistake, an arrogant single lawyer turns into a mother of two kids. This movie shows us how she handled such different lives.

Last but not least, they also include one of the most famous animation movies in Korea. This is “The Road Called Life (2014)”. This movie is based on three famous Korean short stories; ”When the Buckwheat Flowers Bloom”, “Spring Spring” and “A lucky day” . These are the literature most of Korean Students learn at their high school, as it shows the Korean society and imply their spirit.

All film screenings will be free and open to public from 21 to 24 November in GSC Mid Valley.
