If there is one thing I hate, it’s people who don’t keep their promises and there are plenty of those around especially in the blogging scene. In fact, I could easily write a book about all the times people have said things they don’t mean and when I remind them about it, they expertly fob me off or I get no response to my email. It’s like an epidemic in Malaysia!
I wonder why keeping one’s word is so difficult and the worst thing is when brands or companies offer something so publicly and then nothing happens! A good example of this is last year when I received a text message from Astro offering me a 6 month complimentary subscription to a magazine of my choice and all I had to do was register on their famous website so I registered myself for Style magazine and the magazine was supposed to have been sent to me in December 2014 but by the 3rd week of December, I’d not received the magazine so on 21st December 2014, I emailed Astro:-
“I signed up for the complimentary 6 months issue of Style magazine which should have been sent to me beginning this month but I have yet to receive this month’s issue.”
Astro replied in bad grammar:-
“Upon receive the feedback from our respective department, please be informed that we are facing some system error.
We will start delivering back the magazine from January, but the last issue will still be in April. If you are OK with that, please verify your Mailing Address.”
So I replied that I was okay with that and confirmed my address and regretfully, I still haven’t received the magazine this month so I’ve emailed them again 5 days ago and haven’t received their 2nd excuse, maybe they are still thinking about it! All I got was this “same shit, different year” reply:-
“Thank you for your email with regard to Astro magazine.
On behalf of Astro, we would like to extend our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Rest assured that we have escalated your feedback to the respective department for further checking. We will update you as soon as we have the latest feedback.
Should you have any other enquiries, please write to us at wecare@astro.com.my and we will assist you accordingly.
Thank you.”
So Astro, thanks for NOTHING! Oh and one more thing, if you still can’t think of the 2nd excuse by next week, do let me know because I have a list of lame excuses I can generously provide you with since I’ve dealt with so many lame people over the years of blogging!
What a let off from a branded company! Think they have to hire a better publicist/ marketing person for their atrocious grammar.
