On a cool, rainy afternoon and on the spur of the moment, I decided to check out Ficelle Boulangerie & Patisserie at Danau Business Centre, Taman Danau Desa. Finding a park there on a weekday and even weekends is hellish but I was lucky that day as I found a park almost immediately. I knew the area where it was located but I didn’t know exactly which nook. It took me 2 walkabouts around the place before I spotted it at a corner, just a stone’s throw from Watsons.
Ficelle is like a mini version of Levain, the bread section isn’t as wide and varied as Levain’s. They didn’t have the donut twist nor any pizza slices on the day I was there. However, there were baked products which I hadn’t seen at Levain. The patisserie section was more or less the same as Levain’s with macarons and cakes.
To my delight, the prices of some items were less than at Levain, for e.g. my favourite crispy walnut bread is RM2.50 at Ficelle compared to RM3.80 at Levain and no tax is charged at Ficelle (yay!). Even the hot foods such as pasta are cheaper at Ficelle.
Teas are Dilmah teas and all RM4.80. I was pleasantly surprised to get a small jug of warm milk to go with my English Breakfast. The waitress gave service with a smileat all times. There are breakfast and teatime sets.
This was my little sampling at Ficelle:-
Opera Chocolate Mousse with coffee jelly at the bottom was awesome, not too sweet with a tinge of bitterness. So good that I will be having this again soon. Could have had a few more of this but for the deterrent, price is RM7.
This bun has mushrooms inside and it’s succulent, love this. Could have had a few more of this, price not a deterrent at RM3.60.
Ficelle Boulangerie & Patisserie will be seeing a lot more of me provided I can find parking as easily as today again.
