It’s been almost a week since I had the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G, an upgrade from my 1st Samsung Galaxy, the A32 which I purchased last November. There are 4 colour variations available for the A33, Awesome Peach, Awesome Blue, Awesome White and Awesome Black. I received Awesome Peach, would have opted for Awesome Blue but my A32 is that colour and I didn’t want to get confused. The Awesome Peach colour is a sweet pastel that is so pleasing to the eyes.
Unboxing the A33, the phone has a plastic sleeve over it with a brief description of some of the features – Super AMOLED Display, Quad Camera 48MP with OIS, Water & Dust Resistant.
As expected, there is no Charger Adaptor, just comes with the standard cable which looks slightly longer than the one that came with my A32. The screen does look brighter than my A32 screen but then again, I would expect this to be a much better phone given the higher price. The colour looks more sharp on the A33’s 6.4 inch screen.
The A33 5G together with the A53 5G are powered by a brand-new processor. It promises a 2-day battery life and I can confirm the battery is indeed extremely long-lasting as overnight, the battery doesn’t even drop a notch. The phone doesn’t need charging if you don’t use it for hours. It’s that good. It charges quite fast although not as fast as the S22+ which I reviewed earlier.
In terms of the design, it has a slim bezel which makes for one stylish and sleek looking phone. It’s super comfortable to hold and the screen is big enough for viewing all my favourite dramas. The phone doesn’t heat up much even after watching one episode of a drama series.
Yes, it’s water-resistant but I am definitely not putting that to the test. What I miss most is the earphone jack so that I can listen to the radio with the loudspeaker. The phone comes equipped with Netflix and Lazada apps, both of which I don’t use but I have retained it because it might sometimes be interesting to have a peek at Lazada merchandise.
Loading pages can be slightly slow, especially if I have multiple pages open. For example, if I am on the Shopee app and I have a few pages open, I can’t click anything on the app unless I close all the pages.
The A33 will be less prone to scratches with additional protection from Gorilla Glass 5. Overall, a nice looking phone which justifies the higher price over the A32. I haven’t used the camera yet. I will cover that in the 2nd review next week.
