When I was getting the sample of Estee Lauder new Advanced Night Repair, I remembered why it’s been ages since I bothered to go to any beauty counter or shop to get a sample. It’s just too much of a hassle and not worth the time and effort most of the time. Every time I went to The Star online, the Estee Lauder ad would flash across the screen – get a sample of their new Advanced Night Repair by completing an online form, then you would receive a sms stating that you can collect the sample from the counter you chose when you completed the form. You have to choose a specific date of this month when you want to collect.
I chose Aeon MidValley and got there before 11am and as my luck would have it, ALL the beauty counters in Aeon had staff EXCEPT the Estee Lauder counter. I guesses that meant their staff would only be there at noon so I had to wait around the mall for over an hour. I went back to the counter just after noon and sure enough the lady was there. I showed her the sms, she asked me to click on the link to complete the receipt of the sample but it only brought me back to the registration page. She asked me a really strange question, had I registered yet? I told her that if I hadn’t, how would I have received their sms asking me to go and collect?
She asked me to write down my details on a form. That’s double registration. Was it worth it? The answer is a big NO because I was handed a 1.5ml sachet. Even my friend who collected from the Gurney Plaza Penang counter received more samples as she got an extra 2 sachets of Micro Essence.
With this 1.5ml sample, I wouldn’t be able to tell whether it has any effect. At the very least, they could have given 3 sachets.
