Over the first few days of Chinese New Year, there were so many visitors to Penang that cars were snaking up the hill to Kek Lok Si, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Penang and one I used to visit every year during my childhood days. Everyone making their way there were “Gong Xi Gong Xi All The Way To Kek Lok Si” and that inspired this poem.
Gong Xi Gong Xi all the way to Kek Lok Si
As far as the eye could see, traffic was like the sea
All the way to Ayer Itam
It was so hot that we almost “pitam”
Before we finally made it up Penang Hill
The weather was so hot I felt ill
Up on the hill, I had such a view
That everywhere I looked, it gave me a thrill
Of “chee cheong fun” and “char kuey teow” I have had my fill
I think of Penang food at every meal
When it came time to leave the hill
I began to think of the next place I could chill
Thinking of Penang makes me want to go back again
By road, plane or train
Often I think of the prawn paste
Because this taste just cannot be replaced!
wow! I love this poem! I visited Kek Lok Si once too but too bad I lost the photos. It was really a walk up to the Kek Lok Si =) but it is worth as the view is amazing!
Gong Xi Gong Xi!
Your escapade to Penang
Sounded like a thrill
So much so that a Kitty
Might just have to join you
Right up on that hill!
Meow, I think this is your Best Post of the Month!!!
Wah a poem! It has been a while since the last time I read a poem from you hehe~~
