A couple of months ago, L’oreal Paris launched their latest whitening range, White Perfect Laser™ which promises fairer and brighter skin within eight weeks of usage. The products are said to be comparable to Intense Pulse Light (IPL) in shrinking spots, fading out dark spots and improving skin radiance. The majority of Asians are always on a never-ending quest to have fairer and brighter skin so how do these products fare? I passed the White Perfect Laser™ Anti-Spot Brightening Essence and Laser Day Cream SPF 19PA+++ to Lynnett but it has to be noted that she has used the products for less than the recommended 8 weeks to see results.
I have always been aware of L’Oreal’s existence; I mean who wouldn’t with all that massive TV ads? But the products have never been in my to-buy list as I always have the perception that L’Oreal products are more suited for mature skin. Then again, I’m always open to products given to me for testing so no complaints there!
If you haven’t watched TV for a long time (I know people who don’t because there’s the internet), L’Oreal went all out with the White Perfect Laser™ range ad. It’s futuristic and features China’s latest ‘IT’ girl, Fan Bingbing. I tested the products for about two weeks to see if they live up to their promises.
First up, the Anti-Spot Brightening Essence has the typical serum texture and I like the fact that it does not feel greasy at all. The essence has high absorbility and the scent is tolerable. However about 7 days in, I do not observe any difference with my skin tone (and I certainly didn’t glow like Fan Bingbing or Edward Cullen for that matter). My dark spots are still present and my uneven skin tone is still visible. I passed this product to my sister to test for another week to see if it worked for her; unfortunately, it did not yield any satisfying result for her skin as well. Perhaps it’s formulated for mature skin and hence would work better for that skin type.
On the other hand, the Day Cream does not have a rich texture which is rightly so for a day moisturiser. It has a nice scent but is a little too strong for my nose. It’s convenient for days when I have to rush because I do not have to apply a separate layer of sunscreen before I head out. After two weeks of usage, my skin feels soft and moisturised but other than that, it doesn’t work much for my uneven skin tone. I shared this product with my sister as well and it was slightly more effective for her skin. As the area around her cheeks is a little dry, the cream really provides hydration for her skin.
All in all, I think I would consider using these products when I’m a little older but for now, I think they are more suitable for older skin like my mom’s.
White Perfect Laser™ Anti-Spot Brightening Essence is RM78.90 & White Perfect Laser™ Day Cream SPF19 PA+++ is RM58.90.
