Living in a metropolis like Kuala Lumpur, most of us are constantly on the go and it may be sometimes hard to find time for a necessity such as a facial. Most facials I have gone for before are at least 2 hours long and to me, it feels unnecessarily long. An express facial such as those offered by Hope Remedies in Sunway Velocity Mall is the perfect solution for those who are on the go and want to squeeze in a facial during the lunch hour.
My first visit to Hope Remedies was when they first opened months ago, 5 months ago to be precise. To recap, Hope Remedies is a homegrown brand that offers natural skincare. The ingredients are extracted from botanicals and where there are scents, it all smells completely natural. For those with sensitive skin, Hope Remedies skincare is free of harsh cosmetic compounds such as petroleum, harmful fragrances, and colorants, sodium lauryl sulphates, Propylene glycol, animal by-products, or parabens. As they say, if it is not found in nature, you won’t find it in a Hope Remedies product.
A few days ago, I visited Hope Remedies for one of the & n ir Treat And Go Facials. Each of these facials won’t take more than an hour making it perfect for people who don’t have time to indulge in a 2-hour facial and then be ushered into a room to be sweet talked into signing up for a facial package. There are no rooms in Hope Remedies as the facial takes place in a curtained off area within the shop.

This facial focuses on extractions, it’s a maintenance facial to prevent clogged pores and acene formation. It’s especially beneficial for skin with congested pores and blackheads. It’s also suitable for oily, acne-prone skin.
Double Cleanse – Double Mask 4-steps Facial, Extraction 5-steps facial. Targeted on pores, cleaning, remove impurities, restore smooth and cleaner skin complexion.

Unlike the other lengthy facials I have gone for, this facial doesn’t require you to remove your top and change into the facial gown as there is no shoulder massage. The Calming Cleansing Milk and Cleansing Cream-Mousse were used to cleanse my skin of impurities. They both have a beautiful, uplifting scent but I especially like the Cleansing Cream-Mousse which has a citrus scent. The Cleansing Cream-Mousse is infused with Lavender Floral Water, it has antiseptic properties that helps prevent and heal acne breakouts, unclog pores and reduce inflammation.
The extraction of my blackheads and milia seeds was done expertly and painlessly by Hope Remedies co-founder, Amanda who has many years of experience as a beautician. She and the other co-founder of Hope Remedies, Alvin are the nicest people one could ever meet. They have such a passion for their business and I can feel they genuinely want to help those who have problem skin improve the condition of their skin.
Hope Remedies has 2 types of clay masks : Purifying and Detoxifying. Purifying contains purifying French Green Clay that draws out toxins and impurities from your pores in a strong ‘vacuum cleaner-like’ action. Clear pores means finer pores and smoother skin. This variation is more for those with more problematic skin like oiliness and acnes.
Amanda applied the Detoxifying one on my face, the powder in the jar looks pink but when applied, it doesn’t look as pink as the powder form. This one boosts blood circulation for a healthy glowing complexion with natural French Pink Clay. ‘Vacuum cleaner-like’ action clears out impurities and clogged pores for finer pores and smoother skin.
My skin felt and looked a lot cleaner after the facial. I do have a recurrent problem with blackheads (they pop back within 2 weeks of getting extracted) and this facial certainly helped rid my face of those impurities.
This is the kind of facial to go for if you want a fast process and with positive results. Best of all, there’s no pressure of signing up for a package which costs thousands of Ringgit. For those with problem skin like acne, Amanda recommends going for this facial once a week for 2 weeks and once every 2 weeks thereafter.
Thumbs up to Hope Remedies for this facial as it’s express. There is no need to change into the facial gown and there is value in the price as you do get extraction plus masks. By the way, the sheet mask used during the facial (soaked in Lavender Hydrosol) is available for sale. It’s much thinner than the ones I used to buy from Daiso so you use less toner or in Hope Remedies case, Lavender Hydrosol to absorb into the sheet mask. Good to know!
