Ichiriki @ The Gardens

There’s lots of choices for Japanese cuisine at The Gardens Mall with new Japanese restaurants opening every few months. Ichiriki looks like an upmarket Japanese restaurant, with prices being more steep than Sushi Zanmai. Still, that didn’t deter the many customers at Ichiriki on the weekday night I was there.

Tonkatsu/Sushi Set

I can’t remember exactly what they have on the menu but I saw a lot of tonkatsu, the deep-fried, breaded pork cutlet. I chose the tonkatsu/sushi set because I thought I could fall back on the sushi if I didn’t like the tonkatsu. My fears were allayed the moment I bit into the tonkatsu as it is tasty and tender. There’s a dipping sauce with the set so it’s not dry. 3 varieties of sushi (2 pieces each) are served in this set and include salmon roe and soft shell crab.

Salmon Sashimi

These slices of sashimi are superb, literally melted in my mouth, minimum chewing required. I could have had another serving all to myself.
