MY Token’s aspiration of positioning Malaysia as a global tech hub received a major boost with its recent launch as the first blockchain and Web3 event of its kind in Asia. The event took place at KL Base on 14 and 15 September, bringing together key figures from the blockchain industry and offered a dynamic fusion of technology, education, and entertainment.
Endorsed by Tourism Malaysia and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), MY Token highlighted the country’s growing role in the blockchain ecosystem. The opening ceremony kicked off the two-day programme – befittingly, just two days before the nation celebrated Malaysia Day – with the attendance of Nor Maizatul Azta bt Sanip, Chief Assistant Senior Director, Malaysian Science and Technology Information Centre; Dr Shahril Baharim, Undersecretaries Accounts Division, Ministry Of Tourism, Arts & Culture and Zuraini Ahmad, Parliamentary Officer of the National Assembly.
Billed as the premier blockchain event in the region, MY Token aimed to accelerate Malaysia’s growth in the digital economy, attracting entrepreneurs, developers, investors, and tech enthusiasts from all over the world. Designed to showcase Malaysia’s blockchain potential, MY Token served as a unique platform bridging traditional industries with the rapidly expanding digital economy.

One of the highlights of the event was the Lightning Pitch sessions, where startups presented their innovative ideas to a panel of venture capitalists and government delegates. These sessions provided a valuable platform for potential collaboration and future investment opportunities, showcasing a range of ideas with the potential to drive growth and innovation in the blockchain space.
The two-day programme, supported by Zues Event Sdn Bhd, offered visitors an immersive experience filled with interactive activities. Highlights included the Play to Earn scavenger hunt, offering rewards like hot air balloon rides and prizes up to RM500,000. MY Token also featured a dedicated gaming zone, hands-on workshops, and insightful panel discussions. Attendees had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge blockchain technologies and trends, from DeFi (Decentralised Finance) and DePin (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks) to blockchain solutions and NFT (non-fungible tokens) projects, with participation from leading companies and communities such as Matr1x, Mocaverse, BuzzUp, PuffPaw, Real Protocol, Celuvplay, Vsing and more.
In its commitment to nurturing future digital innovators, MY Token offered free access to over 600 university and college students, including those from 9 universities. This initiative aimed to empower the next generation by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge in blockchain and Web3 technologies, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute to and shape the industry’s future.
Adding a unique cultural twist, MY Token hosted a music festival under the sub-IP To The Moon, designed to draw global visitors and fully supported by local bodies. The festival featured a diverse lineup of local DJs, blending technology and entertainment to create an energetic atmosphere.
