A few weeks ago, I attended the media launch/preview of ‘Van Gogh Alive’, an immersive experience. Of course it’s very different than walking through a conventional art gallery. In this experience, you do wander through different (mostly dark) rooms but you get to interact with the exhibits thanks to advanced digital technology. For example, you can pose with props like umbrellas against ever-changing backgrounds depicting Van Gogh’s extraordinary art.
Here are some highlights from the ‘Van Gogh Alive’ Immersive Experience:
Pose among sunflowers, pose with sunflowers, you can take your own sweet time in every room and take as many photos as you want. I think it’s quite a unique experience and you get to learn more about one of the world’s most talented artists of all time.
You can have your picture “painted” digitally and collect the photo from a counter after you have completed the tour. I really like my photo and have it in a frame (bought the frame from Mr. DIY immediately after I collected my photo). This is one of the fun things to do during this experience.
Umbrellas are provided even though there is no chance of rain. This is another fun thing to do as your umbrella design will change along with the backdrop images.
Walk along a pathway of lights hanging from ceiling to floor.
‘Van Gogh Alive’ is on from now till 16 March 2023 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil and tickets can be purchased at www.vangogh.com.my priced at RM75 for adults and RM68 for children & senior citizens.
