I’d heard of Payot for some time but hadn’t had a proper introduction to the brand until they held a bloggers’ workshop two weeks ago. The presenter was their French International Trainer, Aurelia. Payot was founded decades ago by the first female doctor of her generation, Nadia Payot. In 1927, inspired by the scents of plants and knowledge of herbs, Nadia Payot presented her creams in packaging whose shapes were inspired by the female form.
In 1937, Payot was the first brand to open a SPA in France. The prescription of the brand was entrusted to beauty professionals – the aestheticians. Nadia Payot created an exclusive facial massage technique which earned her an international reputation. The massage technique comprises 42 choreographed movements in which pressure applied to the skin releases tension and restores radiance. In addition, she created a line of unique cosmetic treatments which act in symbiosis with a specific application technique. The 42 movements is exclusive to Payot and increases the effectiveness of their products. This aesthetic approach, inspired by physiotherapy, promotes the well-being of the body, face and mind.
Pâte Grise is an cult product whose formula remains unchanged and is presented in a contoured jar. This secret formula by Dr Payot works while you sleep to accelerate the maturation of minor sub- cutaneous spots and make them disappear from the very next morning. Calming sweet almond relieves the skin and locally soothes sensitised areas. The double shale extract regulates sebaceous secretions and encourages the disappearance of regular minor spots. It is applied to imperfections every evening after cleansing and toning.
At the start of the hands-on workshop, we cleansed our faces by applying Lait Démaquillant Fraîcheur:-

- Bioecolia : Regulates and restores balance to skin flora.
- Smithsonite extract : Tones and revitalises the skin.
This milky cleanser smells marvelous and didn’t sting my eyes when it came into contact with my eyelids. Feels very gentle yet effective in removing all traces of make-up. I’d love to have this as a daily cleanser as it feels so luxurious. Apply by small taps with no pressure.
To double cleanse, we used Gel Démaquillant D’Tox, a gel which transforms into a foaming cleanser (when mixed with water) with grapefruit extracts.

Smells very fruity and the foam is so soft. Skin is softer and smoother after use.
After cleansing thoroughly, we applied Lotion Tonique Fraîcheur, a very refreshing toner which exfoliates softly.

- Olivine: Combats stress and tiredness.

Then we applied the 1st of the Expert Purete products – Masque Purifiant (exfoliating purifying mask) 50ml/RM150. This is a cream mask texture with exfoliating grains. Has a double action : used as a mask, it matifies and smoothes skin texture, used as an exfoliator, it thoroughly unclogs and purifies the skin. So it has 2 complementary actions in a single treatment.

- Chilean mint extract : Regulates seborrhea. Prevents the appearance of inflammation that leads to cutaneous imperfections.
- Zinc extract : Deep-cleanses the epidermis. Limits sebaceous secretion and normalizes sebum levels.
- Kaolin : strong absorbing white clay that deep cleanses, purifies and matifies the skin.
- 7% AHA esters : provides cutaneous micro-exfoliation, helps smooth skin surface and visibly eliminates imperfections.
The exfoliating beads don’t feel harsh. We used it as a mask and after it’d been removed, skin felt purified and smoother.
Next we applied the Elixir Purete Purifying Detoxifying Essence which combines Payot’s innovative antioxidant rich Elixir Complex with Thyme Extract to purify and regulate combination and oily skin whilst protecting against environmental aggressors.

- Green Tea and Vitamin PP : Balance, refresh and prevent from imperfections.
- Salicylic Acid : Favours the natural exfoliation of the skin and refines the skin texture.
This was followed by the application of Expert Points Noirs 30ml/RM150 which is a refreshing cream gel. The unique formula brings 3 levels of action to fight blackheads: it deep-cleanses the skin, unclogs and retightens the pores.

- Glycolic acid 3% : delivers deep-down peeling action.
- Rose fruit extract : regulates skin’s keratinization process, reduces the unsightly appearance of dilated pores, in addition to smoothing and refining skin texture.
As the last step before sunscreen, we applied Crème Matifiante Velours 50ml/RM195 which helps fight against shine and dilated pores. Excess sebum is regulated, complexion becomes clearer and skin regains radiance.

- Rose hip oil : moisturizes and regenerates thanks to its high concentration of fatty acids.
As the final step, we applied Sun Sensi Cream Visage SPF50+ 50ml/RM169, a protective anti-aging face cream with CELL=PROTECT complex.

- Vitamins E and C : strong antioxidant against UVA/UVB, regenerating/revitalising.

- Emollient agents : Hydrating and regenerating leaving a soft, satin touch.
- Absorbing powder : gives the non-oily effect.
