I think it’s true to say that many of us don’t expect skin whitening from skincare products but it’d be nice if uneven skin tone can be corrected. Of course, if the product can also hydrate skin, all the better since some “whitening” products can so dry out skin.

So Kiehl’s has the Clearly Corrective White Deep Moisture Clarifying Cream which has these benefits:-

  • Provides continuous 24-hour hydration while visibly diminishing dark spots and discoloration
  • Activated C helps diminish the appearance of skin irregularities and prevents the formation of new ones
  • Instantly hydrates skin and provides long-term radiance
  • Paraben-free, fragrance-free, colorant-free,  dermatologist-tested

  1. I personally prefer stand-alone boutiques where I can receive more specialized service. I find that Beauty Advisors in counters at departmental stores rotating shifts between locations. Difficult to look for a preferred BA though most of the time the BA will provide us her name card. Besides, many times I’ve encountered vacant counters where the BA no where to be seen. After asking around the neighbouring counters, the BA was at other location due to some sales/promo event. I find that BAs in stand-alone boutiques are more attentive to clients and more knowledgeable about their brands. Boutiques offer wider and more complete range of products, and certain products are even exclusive to only boutiques. Those with beauty salon services have nicer, spacious and more comfortable rooms, rather than small cubicles in departmental stores.

  2. Dear Juniper, please don’t close the blog and continue input us with all the latest info.

I will prefer to make purchase in a beauty counter of departmental store compare to brand’s stand alone boutique. For me, both offer the same range of product and sometimes stand alone boutique do have wider range of product. Yet the product I am about to purchase can be easily get in both places. So I will go for beauty counter in departmental store where sometimes the departmental store have special discount for some beauty product and we can collect points at the same time.
Service wise, is more or less the same. The beauty brand surely will well-trained their employee before they are allowed to serve their customer. Just one thing when you go to beauty counter, try to avoid buying when there is a huge crowd as they might not have many staff to help you with your purchases.

  3. I would prefer the stand alone beauty boutique for their services. I have personally make friends with the BA of my favourite brands in departmental stores but after a few years, they tend to change again to other locations. The personalized services where the BA knows you well enough of what are your favourites and preferences would have been lost. This kind of relationship is important in maintaining the loyalty of their customers and fans. Then, i have to start all over again the process. BAs that are long at a particular boutique are found to be nicer and more knowledgeable in their products that they are promoting. Some brands can also set up their own signature care and spa within the same vicinity giving the feel of exclusivity of their customer service. BAs that you close with are like old friends, you can ask for their good advice on new products as well as asking for sample sachets to try on. Tendency you might get an extra sachet thsn the others!

  4. Juniper, you are doing very well in giveaways. We always support your blog, pls continue it.

Definitely counters. FIRST – I feel like the sales associates at counters know their products a lot better and are more help when you are looking for something specific. I’ll go to a department store counter because they do have a complete selection of a brand’s products.

SECOND – In dept. stores, the SAs are very loyal to their brand and know the product all that well because they get highly trained on their products. You can usually find some REALLY great makeup artists at counters too. I usually go in with something in mind and they stick to it or suggest better products for the purpose I want. The SAs will gave me some of the samples to try, even I’m not going to buy anything at the moment.

THIRD – I can collect the both membership points, if i purchased at ”beauty counter” in ”department store”. Another advantage is I can get free voucher, when I purchased on their sales period (Free voucher when spend RM100 and above). I usually go in with something in mind and they stick to it or suggest better products for the purpose I want. The SAs gave me some of the samples to try, even I’m not going to buy anything at that moment. Sometimes, I will get extra sachet or small item when I purchased at beauty counter. ^__^
