La Mer : The Moisturizers

It all began with the iconic Crème de la Mer 60 years ago and since then there have been 4 additional textures to the La Mer moisturizer range. My last visit to a La Mer counter was more than 3 years ago and there have been more than a few new La Mer products introduced, all with the key ingredient Miracle Broth™. The moisturizers more than hydrate skin as they also have anti-aging and revitalizing benefits.

All the moisturizers should be warmed for a few seconds between the fingers to activate the Miracle Broth™ until it becomes translucent, then pressed gently into the skin. The moisturizers should not be warmed between palms as that would warm up the product too much. There is a difference between the level of absorption – I applied a moisturizer directly on my skin and there was still a film after I had massaged it in but when I warmed it up between my fingers and then applied it to my skin, there was no filmy layer at all.

The 5 La Mer moisturizers are:-

1. The Moisturizing Soft Cream RM1020

My favourite texture of all the La Mer moisturizers as this one may feel less thick than Crème de la Mer but it feels no less luxurious. This one feels so lightweight and incredibly soft, almost like a souffle. Has a luminous finish.

2. Crème de la Mer RM1020

The richest, most luxurious and thickest texture of the La Mer moisturizers. Has a dewy finish. I would use this at night and the Moisturizing Soft Cream for day if I had both.

3. The Moisturizing Gel Cream RM1020

Such a light texture with a cooling, soothing effect on skin. Has a velvet finish ideal for warm weather or for those who prefer a much lighter texture to their moisturizer.

4. The Oil Absorbing Lotion RM850

Formulated for normal to oily skins, this has a matte finish and is also ideal for warm weather.

5. The Moisturizing Lotion RM850

Has more or less the same light and thinner texture of The Oil Absorbing Lotion. Has a satin finish.

To find out which is the ideal La Mer moisturizer, visit any La Mer counter for a skin consultation. I think you will love the scent of the moisturizers as much as I do. While Crème de la Mer is suitable for all skin types, I preferred The Moisturizing Soft Cream as it just melted into my skin after warming up between my fingertips and it has such a beautiful soft texture. What I like about La Mer is that it doesn’t have those fancy machines on their counters which analyse your skin and you’re then told your skin is in dire need of hydration. La Mer doesn’t make tall promises like your lines will disappear in 2 weeks if you use their products. The brand focuses on balancing your skin, e.g. providing hydration to dry skin and controlling sebum production in oily skins. There are no miraculous skincare products which can eradicate lines and wrinkles which have formed and are staying put but given the number of loyal La Mer customers out there, I believe skin will be nurtured and rejuvenated with La Mer products.
