When I first heard of DKNY’s latest fragrance, Golden Delicious, my first thought was of the golden apple in Greek mythology (actually, there are a few myths surrounding golden apples). In conjunction with the launch of this new fragrance, DKNY has done even better than golden by unveiling the Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle.
DKNY Fragrances has partnered with celebrity jeweler, Martin Katz in coming up with the Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle comprised of 18K yellow gold with a rock crystal base, adorned with over 2000 stones sourced from all over the world including emeralds from Colombia, rubies and sapphires from Asia and precious stones from Brazil. The bottle took nearly 1500 hours to make as each stone was hand placed on the bottle.
Martin Katz used the new Golden Delicious Fragrance as the inspiration behind the unique, one-of-a-kind Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle. It is on a world tour, stopping at various events and fragrance retailers in the United States, Asia and Europe. Once the tour is complete, it will be available for purchase on DKNY’s Facebook page with net proceeds going to Action Against Hunger – a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger.
DKNY Golden Delicious combines the following notes:-
Top – Orange Flower Water, sparkling Mirabelle, signature Golden Delicious Apple
Heart – White Rose, Casablanca Lily, Vanilla Orchid, Muget
Finish – Musk, Sandalwood, Teakwood
This fragrance is quite unlike the other fragrances produced by DKNY. It’s definitely more musky and would interest ladies who steer away from fragrances which are too femininely floral. I don’t dislike this fragrance nor do I love it either, I’m kind of ambivalent about it and perhaps it’s because I am still in the “getting-to-know-you” stage vis-a-vis this fragrance. Give me a bit more time and I may like it better.
My main gripe about this fragrance is its staying power, I wish it was longer lasting. I don’t seem to smell much of it after the first hour of wear or perhaps it’s just my olfactory senses gone defective with age? I find myself spraying more in the hope that it will have longer staying power but it doesn’t work that way.
