Saturday mornings are when I can catch the latest episode of The Penthouse Season 3. The episode is available the night before but not subbed till Saturday morning. So exciting to watch what happens to the heros & villains of Hera Palace. This episode has an explosive start as Joo Dan Tae (JDT) calls Shim Su Ryeon (SSR) during her engagement ceremony to Logan Lee (LL). He tells her to go up to the penthouse alone or he will blow up the whole of Hera Palace.
What I don’t understand is how with LL & SSR’s extensive wealth combined, they can’t even deploy one bodyguard to stand outside the penthouse jic something untoward happens to SSR. That’s the first thing that didn’t make sense to me in this episode. So SSR has a face-off with JDT, she pulls a gun from her garter and he threatens to push the button to set off the bombs which will be stronger than the one he used on LL.
SSR keeps shooting at JDT and just when she thinks he is dead or unconscious, he strikes at her leg and they have a struggle all over the living room. She shoots him in the head and he falls all the way down to the Hera Palace lobby fountain but not before setting off the bomb. Just as SSR is gasping for breath, LL rushes in (he was too busy earlier in the security room arranging for evacuation of the residents) and carries her to the lift. As the lift speeds down, Hera Palace blows up in dramatic fashion and we are left hoping the two make it all the way down alive.
Luckily everyone who was in Hera Palace on that day managed to flee in time.LL has rented an entire hotel for residents who have no other place to stay. LL announces that his company will take over Cheong A Construction. The other villain, Cheon Seo Jin (CSJ) is pretending to have advanced dementia so that the police can’t charge her with any of her crimes. Her plan is to flee abroad with her daughter, Ha Eun Byeol (HEB) who thinks CSJ has dementia because of the amnesia tablets she put into CSJ’s wine. CSJ knew HEB was trying to drug her so used that to her advantage to pretend she has gone cuckoo.
Dr Ha, HEB’s father has woken up from his coma after falling down the stairs while trying to protect Bae Ro Na (BRN), his daughter with Oh Yoon Hee. Unfortunately, Dr Ha’s optical nerves have been damaged which is why he can’t see anything when he woke up and even worse news, he doesn’t have long to live. Dr Ha asks LL to help him meet BRN before she leaves for her studies in Juilliard, USA.
Their meeting takes place in a small cafe Dr Ha knows well, he asks LL what colour dress BRN is wearing so she doesn’t suspect there is anything wrong with him. He tells her that he is completely healed so that she can leave with no worries. Quite sad because BRN cries, she didn’t want Dr Ha to endanger himself by saving her.
Dr Ha suspects that his ex-wife CSJ is pretending to have dementia and he doesn’t trust the results of the MRI scan which show that she has dementia. With the help of a doctor at the hospital, Dr Ha confirms that CSJ’s MRI scan has been forged. Dr Ha calls SSR to tell her that he is on his way to the apartment where CSJ is hiding. Outside her apartment, CSJ realises that Dr Ha has gone blind and they have a struggle on the balcony. Dr Ha falls to his death, rather a bloody spectacle. SSR rushes to the scene with HEB and find Dr Ha’s body. CSJ could have called for an ambulance but she didn’t and is angry that Dr Ha declared that he never forgot Oh Yoon Hee (BRN’s mother) before he takes his last breath.
SSR & LL have also found out that CSJ is faking her dementia as they discover CSJ’s uneaten medication in her trash. At the mortuary where Dr Ha’s body lies, SSR tells HEB that her mother is faking her dementia but HEB refuses to believe it unless she sees for herself that what SSR says is true so SSR sets a trap for CSJ at the same spot where Oh Yoon Hee fell to her death, pushed down by CSJ.
By telling CSJ that HEB is in her hands at that location, CSJ rushes to meet SSR. LL and HEB are watching as SSR gets CSJ to admit that she killed OYH & Dr Ha. HEB finally knows the truth and calls the police to come and arrest her mother but as the polica cars are speeding towards the edge of the cliff, CSJ pushes SSR down, to LL and HEB’s horror. Will SSR surviv? Seems likely from what I see of the next episode’s trailer.
