L’occitane La Collection de Grasse Magnolia & Mûre EDT is a combination of floral and fruity with its key ingredients of magnolia and blackberry but it smells more floral than fruity to me. This is a light fragrance which is quite delightful to my olfactory senses.
The bottle, simple as it looks, has a rather vintage feel to it. It was created by L’occitane founder, Olivier Baussan and inspired by the traditional perfume bottles of Grasse. I imagine this is the kind of bottle I would have found in the apothecaries in France many decades ago.
The ampersand (&) symbol is embossed on the black cap and front of the bottle. This unifying symbol signifies the marriage of contrasting or complementary elements. In Occitan etymology, the “&”(ampersand) sign was red like other letters and considered the 27th letter of the alphabet until the 19th century. The ampersand is a ligature of the letters in “et” – the Lain word for “and”.
The bottle comes in a generous size of 75ml/RM225. I would love to take along 30ml or even 15ml bottles of this EDT in my bag as the fragrance unfortunately doesn’t last very long. I don’t smell it on my skin after more than 3 hours. I guess the best thing to do in order to prolong its staying power is to use the Magnolia & Mûre Body Milk before spritzing on the EDT.
