Last November, my sourdough-loving friend informed me that she had read about Loffi sourdough pillow buns. There was an outlet in Sri Petaling, not too far from me although parking and traffic there is a nightmare everyday. I was curious about sourdough because up to that point, I hadn’t tasted any sourdough so I braved the traffic on a weekend and ventured forth.
Loffi is located on Jalan Radin Bagus, the main road of that long row of shophouses with dozens of eateries. As expected, no parking space available on that road so I parked on an adjacent street which was a stone’s throw from Loffi.
The outlet in Sri Petaling is quite small, it shares premises with another eatery (I think it is a vegetarian restaurant) so it caters mainly for takeaways. At the time I was there, the available sourdough pillow bun variations:
- Belgium Dark Chocolate
- Japanese Matcha Raisin
- Blueberry Cheese
- Mango Cream Cheese
- Strawberry Dark Chocolate
- Pumpkin Cranberry
- Purple Rice Azuki
- Mushroom Teriyaki
I didn’t eat them until breakfast the next day. The friendly reminder card states that they can be kept at room temperature for 20 hours. I didn’t warm them up before eating as my microwave is out of order. Yes they do taste slightly sour as sourdough should and I guess for those not used to the sour taste, this is tempered by the sweet fillings which by the way, isn’t as much as I expected.
It’s quite hollow inside. I don’t have a particular favourite, they tasted okay but it didn’t send me back there for more.
