Having tried and tested quite a few BB products this year, I believe that the main purpose of BB Cream is to protect skin against UV rays and to omit the additional layering on of foundation. Most BB Creams also claim to make skin look fairer, reduce the appearance of pores, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles and fade out dark spots such as L’oreal Paris BB Max UV Perfect.
L’oreal Paris has produced some fine sunscreens such as the UV Perfect Longlasting UVA/UVB Protector SPF50/PA+++. I believe the BB Max is an extension of their UV Perfect range. BB max offers 12 hours UV protection but what makes this product unique? It’s their two patented UV filters to ensure skin gets a perfect shield against UV rays –
- Mexoryl™ SX Filter, a perfectly photostable filter to protect against UVA rays
- Mexoryl™ XL Filter, which not only filters out UV rays but also increases its protective action by making skin non-greasy, smooth and soft.
Together, these two Filters effectively protect skin against UVA and UVB rays.
The tube has a fine tip which dispenses just a small amount each time. When I first squeezed out the product, I was dismayed as it looked so ashen. I don’t know if it’s a result of being enriched with Colour Equalizer Technology, an innovative pigments complex that desaturates skin discolourations.
No problems with blending it into skin quickly and seamlessly although the shade didn’t match my skin tone as perfectly as some other BB Creams I’ve used. There was some brightening and even a little dewiness but I am just not liking the ashen “bleah” tone.
It’s quite sheer and doesn’t cover blemishes or spots but then again, one can’t expect much coverage from BB Creams. This one doesn’t really work for me but it might suit some other skin tones. Retails at RM39.90/30ml.
