MAC Cosmetic’s Autumn/Winter Trend Book 2012 is the heaviest/thickest of all the MAC Trend books I’ve seen. As usual, there are 4 trends for this season : Sense + Sensibility, Roam-Antique, Arti-Tech & Hone-Structure.
Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm is the primer that matters most this season, used a canvas for foundation. Makeup artists raved about its ability to smooth texture, soften imperfections and provide the perfect base for further skin-improving product.
AW2012 sees the focus on the eye, from delicate iced-garden frozen white washes to calligraphic black liners and intensely dimensional mineral shadows. PRO Sculpting Creams are used not just under cheekbones but also to tint a lid or lip.
In relation to skin : “It’s about gorgeous, healthy, radiant skin this season,” says Charlotte Tilbury. Concoct it with a mix of prep products (Prep + Prime Beauty Balm, base (Sculpt Foundation), minimal concealer (the new Concealer Palettes) and traceless powder (Prep + Prime Loose Finishing Powder).
Lips are natural but more healthy and chic than blank and beige. Red is used on eyes, from the purest crimson (a la Donna Karan) through to the ubiquitous reddened brown and sepia stains.
