Au-Currant is a trend that focuses on the lips and is a play on the French word “au courant” meaning fashionable, stylish, up-to-date or well informed. Lips are in various shades of currant, e.g. prune, berry, cranberry.
Skin is left with a satin finish with dark looking lips at the edges with a rush of red in the centre a la a two-toned lip. Some essential products for this look are Lipmix in Crimson for the latte, intensely pigmented mouth, Lip Pencil in Nightmoth to focus on the inner edges of the mouth and Cremesheen Lipstick in Hang Up for just bitten lips.
Some of the Au-Currant looks at the Autumn/Winter shows were paler skin, flashes of metallic through the eye with heart-shaped lips set against matte skin. This is a makeup look that should look blurry with a soft focus as if it is a photo taken wrongly.
