MAC Heirloom Shadestick

Does anyone find eyeshadows in the form of swivel-up sticks easy to use? These days, just about every brand has this product, it’s quite common among Korean brands too. I’ve tried a few but I always gravitate back to the more conventional powder eyeshadows.

Heirloom is one of the lighter Shadesticks in MAC’s recent MAC Me Over Collection. It’s a pale pink with a frosty finish. Shadesticks can be worn on their own or as a base for powder eyeshadows. With a colour like Heirloom, I think it’s better that it be worn as a base.

This Shadestick isn’t exactly the smoothest, it tugs at my eyelids a little and colour pay-off isn’t the best because I have to apply it over my lids a few times in order to get it to show up. It does have pigmentation but very subtle, which is why it makes a good base for darker eyeshadows.

I used it under Inglot eyeshadows 465 & 463 which are neutral brown shades. 463 (very light beige) is quite powdery, when I applied it with my finger, bits of it fell on to my table. All the more reason it needs to be used with a base in order for it to stick on to.

Inglot eyeshadow 465 is a beautiful colour as it’s dark brown with gold metallic shimmer/sparkles. Of course, the Shadestick colour is buildable but if I am using it as a base, I don’t need the colour to show up that strongly.

MAC Shadesticks retail at RM70 for 1.5g.

Note : The Shadestick and Inglot eyeshadows are press samples.
