MAC Mineralize Foundation/Loose in its previous incarnation looked very different from what it looks like today. I didn’t fancy the previous packaging as I am more partial towards conventional packaging for loose powder which means I like it to come in a wide tub with a sifter. I don’t mind that if it doesn’t come with a powder puff or brush since I rarely use those that are included anyway. The previous packaging was too small for my liking and came with a puff attached to the cap.
This loose powder is described by MAC as silky, mineral-rich providing a medium-buildable natural to natural-satin finish. I think it is too sheer to use on its own and I always use it as a setting powder over liquid foundation. It’s a really fine powder that does not have a cakey effect but it does have a scent which not everyone may like. It takes some getting used to.
It provides a soft satin sheen to my skin and so is not entirely matte. However, there is no shimmer so if you have oily skin, this powder may work for you but you might just want to try it out first if you happen to have ultra-oily skin which needs a more matte finish.
The shade that was passed to me happened to be the right fit for my skin tone, I have the Light shade. There are altogether 9 shades so there should be a shade to suit everyone’s skin tone no matter how fair or dark.
At RM125 for 7.5g, I’d consider it pricey but there is no doubt in my mind that this is an excellent quality loose powder.
