It’s the month of Halloween when some of us are looking forward to dressing up as ghouls and other scary beings that rule the night with terror. I am not going to be in fancy dress this year but Halloween is fun especially if you have the right make-up and what better make-up to match whatever Halloween costume you’re donning than MAC Rick Baker Collection. Who is Rick Baker? Not so well known here but in North America, he may very well be the father of special makeup effects.
Rick Baker began his career on the set of “The Exorcist” and went on win the inaugural Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for his work on “An American Werewolf in London”. He also created the “werecat” creature Michael Jackson transforms into in the music video “Thriller” and who can forget that look?
In collaborating with MAC on this makeup collection, Rick Baker created 3 looks – Bride, Day of Dead and Zombie. I am sure I don’t have to tell you which is which from the image above. I wonder how many hours one has to sit through for the transformation.
The Monster’s Bride & Spider Queen PRO Palette RM180
The Monster’s Bride
Spider Queen
Of the two PRO Palettes, I prefer Spider Queen as I have a weakness for green shadows and the yellow green in this palette looks absolutely gorgeous. It’s so pigmented and I think the colours in Spider Queen are more unusual than in The Monster’s Bride Palette.
Acrylic Paint – Pure White, Landscape Green, Basic Red, Black Black
Acrylic Paints are silicone based and formulated with soft focus powders, can be applied anywhere on the body. Some shades have usage restrictions.
Chromacake Pure White RM130
Solid water-colour cake activated with water. Highly pigmented opaque matte finish. Sheers down easily, good for body painting and fake tattoos.
Face and Body Foundation RM130
A lightweight fluid foundation with a unique blend of emollients that delivers low-to-medium buildable coverage and a natural satin finish.
Monster FX RM100
Water-based tint designed by Rick Baker to give an ultra-sheer wash of colour on skin. Glides on, dries quickly and wears comfortably. Limited-edition shade of Dirt, a warm yellow-brown with ochre tones. This is THE product to use if you want to create that ugly, dirty, stained monster effect a la zombies.
Paintstick RM120
Highly pigmented, emollient colour stick. No grease or shine. Apply to skin directly or with a brush. May also be sheered down with a sponge.
The MAC Rick Baker Collection is available exclusively at the MAC Pavilion outlet.
This collection is really useful to create those halloween look =)
Paint stick black can be used as eyeliner?
No, not suitable. Use the Chromagraphic Pencil also in this collection “A creamy, soft-point pencil ideal for use as a liner, or to outline and define designs. Provides a bold, intensely smooth application with a well-defined, pigment-rich line”. Comes in white, blue and deepest black.
thanks for the advise! will check it out!
