When I saw this new Majolica Majorca product online before I actually got it recently, I was quite enthralled with the packaging. I am a sucker for dual-purpose or even better triple-purpose make-up products. Blood-On (what a name, unforgettable!) can be used on lips and cheeks, rather like Bobbi Brown’s Pot Rouge for lips and cheeks which I absolutely love (a review on that one later perhaps).
Blood-On (don’t know why but the name reminds me of The Twilight Saga series) comes in just one colour. It looks blood red in the pan but isn’t as red on the lips and cheeks as it looks. This is more of a raspberry red and it goes on quite strong on the lips. It has a jelly-like consistency and feels very light and moisturising on my lips.
I expected it to be sheer (given that this is a Land of the Rising Sun product) but nope, it achieved near opacity with just one application. No spatula provided so have to ensure fingers are clean before dipping into the pan. I don’t like to double dip so I make sure one dip is enough for lips and cheeks.
While you can use Blood-On as a base for other lip and cheek products which would provide longer staying power, I don’t find it necessary as I like the colour just as it is. Staying power on the lips is average as I’d need to re-apply after a meal but some colour will remain even after a drink.
On the cheeks, the colour remains true without much fading all day. I do like it as a lip and cheek product and have no hesitations about purchasing it but for the fact that it is Limited Edition. I’d like to see this on the permanent range and in more shades.
Available at Watsons this month at RM39.90.
The colour on the pan is very bloody red but it looks good on skin and lips.
🙂
Yeah it is actually quite sheer.
