Unlike the majority of Asians, I have never had any ramen cravings and while I can appreciate why many love ramen, I can pass by any ramen shop without slowing down my pace. However, I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to review ramen. After all, I don’t dislike the taste of ramen but just that I am not a huge fan of ramen.

Marutama Ramen at Avenue K prides itself on using first grade high protein gluten flour and no preservatives, MSG or additives are allowed. The handmade noodles are cooked in a custom made imported machine from Osaka, Japan that regulates the boiling time so as to ensure consistency of taste.

When eating the ramen here, Marutama suggests that customers first taste the soup before the noodles to get the essence of their secret recipe. Indeed, I knew I was in for a treat when the bowl arrived at my table as I could see that the roast pork loin was juicy and the noodles were fine (I dislike thick noodles).

Oh yes, the chicken stock soup is so delicious and warmed the cockles of my heart (I haven’t used that expression in a long time). It restored my faith in humanity and mankind and made me feel like floating on air. Okay I exaggerate a little but this is a very yummy bowl of ramen in every respect.

If I wasn’t on a food adventure which necessitated me visiting 10 outlets at Avenue K, I would have felt compelled to pay for another bowl of this marvelous ramen. No kidding! This is the Ajitsuke Tamago Ramen and priced at RM22.50. You can have it spicy or non-spicy, mine was non-spicy as I didn’t want to be potentially overwhelmed by spiciness.

Marutama Ramen @ Avenue K is located at UC-7. NON-HALAL.
