A few days ago, I went for my 4th session at My Bowen Therapy @ Etiqa Twins. My heel pain had lessened somewhat after my 3rd session, thanks to my therapist, Hafiy who has tried his utmost to determine where the cause of my heel pain lies and address the issue as best he can.
Bowen Therapy is a very interesting form of therapy and the more I learn about it, the more intrigued I am. You may not see immediate results after the 1st or 2nd session like me but most likely, you will after the 3rd or 4th session. I admit that I was a little disappointed that my aching heel was still aching after the 2nd session but I believed that my patience would be rewarded eventually.
Like many people new to Bowen Therapy, I was slightly puzzled as to why the therapy didn’t focus on the heel where the ache or pain emanated from but after reading up on this therapy, I understood. Bowen Therapy targets our fascia, it is the connective tissue 2mm under our skin.
As My Bowen Therapy explains, fascia is involved in every movement we make and those studying its function have discovered that damage to the fascial network is causing 80% of our aches and pains. Fascia is a multidimensional tissue that forms our body’s soft tissue and internal architecture. It envelops everything inside us, every organ, tendon, muscle, bone and cell.
After my 4th session was over, I decided it was time to obtain more information from the founder of My Bowen Therapy, Lorna Mair who was at the Etiqa Twins outlet. Initially, I thought I would chat to Lorna for just a few minutes but that chat turned out to be a lot longer than I planned and it was most fascinating. I don’t think even an hour or two with Lorna would be sufficient as Lorna has so much useful information to impart and listening to her speak, I wanted to digest as much as I could.
Let me put it this way, spending just a minute or two in Lorna’s presence would give anyone immediate confidence in My Bowen Therapy. Whatever Lorna says in those few minutes is equivalent to what anyone would have to say in half an hour. Lorna gets my respect for the amount of passion that she puts in to provide people with pain relief solutions. She is so ready to share her knowledge with anyone who will listen and after spending 45 minutes in Lorna’s presence, I realise how lucky Malaysians are to have a true Bowen Therapy expert in our country.
Now it’s 2 days after my 4th session and I feel that the aching heel has become less aching. Bowen Therapy isn’t for those who expect immediate results and I accept that different people will have different speeds of improvement. The most important thing is that there will be some improvement. I have made an appointment for a 5th session and will update on my progress in a fortnight from now.
