Said to contain five powerful ingredients to reduce the appearance of scars resulting from surgery, injury, burns, stretch marks, C-section, cuts, scrapes and insect bites, I had the perfect opportunity to test out Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Vitamin E Scar Serum when my dog left a scratch mark on my knee. I had used argan oil on the spot for a few weeks but there was still a visible mark after I had used up every drop of the argan oil.
What are these 5 powerful ingredients then? They are:-
- Cocoa Butter – superior moisturizer to diminish appearance of scars.
- Vitamin E – powerful antioxidant helpful in reducing scars.
- Shark Liver Oil & Silicone – deep penetrating emollients which smooth and soften the appearance of scars
- Allum Cepa– helps diminish scar matrix.
I have used other scar serums before but that was years ago. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Vitamin E Scar Serum has a thick sticky consistency and smells fishy, reminds me of cod liver oil which I downed on a daily basis when I was in primary/secondary school. It doesn’t really absorb, it leaves an oily film on my skin for at least half an hour. If I put on my trousers before it dries, it will stick to the cloth. Best to wear shorts if you’re using this Scar Serum unless you don’t intend to leave the confines of your room for minimum half an hour after application.
Okay, let’s see the difference in the appearance of the scar 10 days and 2 sachets of Scar Serum later.
It’s evident that the appearance of the scar has diminished and has been softened. It will probably take another 2 sachets to see more improvement. It may smell of fish but it sure does work. I have only been applying it once a day in the evenings after my shower because who has time to wait for it to dry in the mornings?
i guess it is faster then the Palmer therapy oil.
Should be since this is a Scar Serum & I assume this would be more expensive than the oil?
yup, the scar serum is more expensive than the oil. the serum was around RM60 to RM80 if not mistaken.
