More Peace Of Mind With The Covid-19 Booster Shot

vaccine-2005Actually, I received notification for my Covid-19 booster shot quite early on, a few weeks ago. I didn’t have an issue with the fact that they were only offering Pfizer. Some people who (like myself) received Sinovac as the initial 2 doses have declined the booster shot unless it’s Sinovac again but I don’t have an issue with that since I believe I won’t suffer any ill effects by adding Pfizer as my booster shot.

My only issue was with being assigned a vaccination centre far away from where I stay once again. For 2 initial shots, I had to go all the way to MITI but at that time, it was fine as the whole country was under lockdown so there was hardly any traffic to and fro. This time however, I cancelled the 1st 2 appointments because after Pantai Hospital, I got an appointment at IGB Annexe in MidValley which is very crowded.

The location I wanted was TDMC where I go to at least once a week for my physio therapy. I asked at TDMC and at first, I wrote my details on their waiting list. Never got any call/sms from them in 2 weeks. After waiting more than 2 weeks, I enquired again and this time, was told to register via a link on TDMC’s Facebook. Much more effective as I received an sms to turn up for the booster within 24 hours of submitting my details for the waiting list.

Because I receive a lot of spam sms, I only checked my incoming sms on the day of the appointment, luckily I could turn up between 9am-3pm and someone did call me to ask whether I would be going. Rain or shine, I would be there since I had been waiting for an appointment there for weeks.

On the 3rd floor of TDMC, I was 3rd in line. The venue was not crowded at all. After registration, I went to the 2nd counter where I was asked whether I was okay with Pfizer and that I might have a fever after the shot. If I did have a fever, I should take 2 Panadols. I didn’t take any Panadols that day but I did the next day as my arm felt like lead. It was super sore and I could barely lift it.

After 4 Panadols, I felt much better and the soreness only subsided after 48 hours. It was worse than the Sinovac vaccinations. However, all worth it as I feel I have enough immunity now (fingers crossed!) and I won’t lose my “Fully Vaccinated” status.
