After a long hiatus due to the pandemic, Pet Lovers Centre (PLC) is excited to announce its 6th Annual Pet Food Drive. This year’s campaign, “Pets Payung Pets”, is dedicated to the wellbeing of rescue animals, will run from 15 November to 1 December 2024.

Pets Payung Pets: A Shelter for the Shelters

“Much like an umbrella that protects us, the initiative’s goal is to shield our beloved furry friends from hunger  and neglect, one bowl at a time,

Jangan cakap Abang tak payung!” in Malaysia, to “payung” a meal for someone is a gesture of kindness and care. Whether it’s a limau ais at a mamak or a full-course meal at a restaurant, to “payung” reflects a heartfelt act of friendship and compassion, which we hope to extend to animals in need across the community.” said Cody Ong, Marketing Manager, Pet Lover Centre Malaysia.

In the spirit of Pets Payung Pets, PLC calls on ‘paw-rents’, animal lovers and compassionate individuals across  Malaysia to come together to help stray and rehomed animals, by contributing to food donations that will keep  bowls full for these furry companions.

The food donations collected will be distributed to four seasoned organisations: Paws Animal Welfare Shelter,  Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (HOPE), Cat Beach Sanctuary, and Second Chance Animal Society. These  dedicated charities have championed care for stray animals tirelessly, providing not only food but also shelter  for strays throughout the year.

The Manja Gang Officially Makes Their Debut

This year’s Pet Food Drive assembles the Manja Gang — a special force of rescue pets acting as the adorable faces of the campaign. “The Manja Gang is the ‘Payung’ (umbrella) of hope and protection, symbolising their united commitment to ensure no animal goes unfed. These furry friends, real residents of our beneficiary shelters, have come together to rally support and speak up for their fellow shelter mates.

Each of their unique personalities bring warmth and charm to the cause, reminding us of the importance of giving back to the animals who need us the most.” added Ong.

“Adoption, rather than buying,” said Ong. “For pet lovers who are looking to add a new member to their family,  adoption gives homeless animals a chance at a better life while supporting shelters that care for them.”

Five Seconds with Manja Gang: “Tell Us a Little Bit About Yourself”

Rambo is an innocent, baby male puppy with a little kid’s voice and childlike wonder. He’s new to the world and relies on others to learn. His heartwarming personality will steal your heart.

Oyen Angels is a typical Malaysian Oyen triplet, Som, Komla and Cheng Zir. Together, they embody the universal love of cats, they love a good adventure and are always ready to create mischief, making them the perfect additions to the Manja Gang.

Elvin is an older, paralysed, and introspective male dog who enjoys a slower pace of life. Despite his  challenges, Elvin remains a gentle giant who finds comfort in his golden years at the shelter.

Cookie is a sophisticated, urban cat with fancy tastes. A former heiress, she can be a bit high maintenance and gedik, but she dreams of becoming an influencer
