When hundreds of people gather at Publika, some wearing yukata and cosplay costumes, you know it’s Publika Bon Odori 2015. The smog was particularly awful but the show went on. This year marks Publika’s 4th Bon Odori to commemorate the famous summer festival celebrated in Japan. The annual event was celebrated there during the 15th century to honour the spirits of their ancestors. Now the festival has become a celebration for families to reunite and enjoy the summer holidays together.
Publika’s celebration included entertaining performances like the Bon Odori dance, Yosakoi dance and Taiko Drum performance. Other attractions included a fireworks display, Wishing Board and ‘make your own fan’ workshop. There were also booths selling authentic Japanese food and drinks during the event.
