There are just 2 more weeks (2 episodes per week) of “Royal Secret Agent “, a Korean drama which I came to like more every week. Firstly, the male lead is cute with dimples. Secondly, there’s a lot of humour in this drama and thirdly, it’s about a royal secret agent who goes into villages/towns to unearth and expose corrupt officials.
Hopefully, the male lead will appear in more Korean dramas as he’s really good. Sung Yi-Gyeom was once a reluctant royal secret agent but he gradually relished his position. He is assisted (sometimes to his detriment) by his sidekick and servant, Park Chun-Sam and undercover female inspector, Hong Da-In. Hong Da-In is actually the daughter of a prince (the King’s late brother) who was accused of treason and supposedly took his own life while being transported back to the capital for sentencing.
Hong Da-In and Sung Yi-Gyeom initially had a hostile relationship due to a misunderstanding but after being forced to work together, they develop feelings for each other although both are not ready to admit their feelings. The trio have to escape from the long tentacles of the most corrupt official in court who is always trying to assassinate them.
Every single minute of each hour long episode is excellent, it’s so entertaining as the dialogue is peppered with good humoured sarcasm. There’s a secondary romantic story between Sung Yi-Gyeom’s bandit stepbrother and Yi-Gyeom’s former girlfriend who he thought was dead. I am looking forward to watching how Yi-Gyeom and team expose the wrongdoings of that top court official and bring justice for Hong Da-In’s murdered royal father.
