Now that I have dined at Sakae Sushi twice, I think I can make a comparison between them and Sushi Zanmai. There’s always a queue outside Sushi Zanmai during meal times but not so at Sakae Sushi where it is much faster and easier to get seated.
There is quite a good variety of bento and ramen at Sakae Sushi. Haru is a bento box of lotus roots, corn and other vegetables, salmon and teriyaki chicken with rice @ RM24.99 which can be shared if you are ordering sushi or not feeling too hungry. The salmon skin is crisp, the chicken very tender and the teriyaki sauce is delicious.
Tempura Moriawase @ RM14.99 consists of 3 good sized prawns, mushrooms and assorted vegetables. Everything is not oily and the coating is thin enough.
Mango & Soft Shell Crab Maki @ RM14.99 also has shrimp roe in it. Wonderful combination so much so I wanted another plate all to my own. The soft shell crab was crisp and mango is always such a nice complement to any sushi.
Sakae Blossom @ RM13.99 is so pretty like the petals of flowers. There’s grilled salmon, crabstick, flying fish roe and mayonnaise. Another plate I could easily have devoured on my own.
Nori (seaweed) ice cream! I couldn’t resist ordering this as I love seaweed but no, it doesn’t have a strong seaweed taste. It is very palatable and generous serving unlike at Sushi Zanmai.
Vanilla Ice Cream with Shiokoji Collagen @ RM6.99 sounds like just what we ladies need for better skin. Actually, the collagen tastes like small bits of jelly. It’s nice but not that memorable. I will stick to the Nori ice cream any day.
I was alternating between the Nori and Miso and the Miso tasted weird. I am sure it tastes just fine if I hadn’t had a bite of Nori and then Miso. Thumbs up to Sakae Sushi for serving up big scoops of ice cream, so value for money.
Team Green Frog!!!
So many ice-cream! Nori is so special ^^
