One of the things I missed during the height of the pandemic was the buffet. As Malaysians, we love our food and there’s no better way to savour food rhan slowly tucking in for a few hours and of course the best way to do this is to partake of a buffet. Last week, I was invited to the Seafood Buffet Dinner at Cinnamon Coffee House One World Hotel Petaling Jaya. It’s the first time I have been to this coffee house and while I was expecting a good buffet, this one exceeded my expectations in both quality and variety.
Cinnamon Coffee House is very spacious and can seat over 200 diners comfortably. The buffet spread is spread out nicely so that no one has to queue. Now this is a buffet totally worth the price as firstly, I didn’t know where to start (everything looked mighty delicious) and secondly, after I was satiated, I felt like coming back on another night to try the rest which I didn’t have room for!
One of my favourites at this buffet was the Double Boiled Soup, all the ingredients indicate that it’s very nutritious and expensive! If you ordered this kind of soup at a Chinese restaurant, it could easily be at least RM25 per bowl. With abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber and free-range chicken, I absolutely loved the taste so much that I had 2 bowls.
The Pacific Giant Clam is healthy as it comes with a generous helping of ginger and garlic on top but skip the soy sauce if you don’t want to add more salty taste. It’s fine on its own as the ginger and garlic are adequate.
The Seafood Paella Rice is chock-full of big sized mussels and prawns but I couldn’t eat too much of that as I had to save space for the rest of the delectable hot seafood dishes such as Stir Fried Prawn, Mussel Berlada, Sweet Sour Crab, Fried Squid Fritter with Salted Egg, Steam Fish with Ginger Soy Sauce and Kam Heong Prawn. No, I don’t have a favourite among all these as they were all delicious and I went back for seconds. To be able to have as much crab (and prawn) as I want, I would consider it my lucky day.
The Salmon Bellevue was everyone’s favourite as it was all gone when I went back for seconds and I had to wait for it to be replenished. So good, so tasty!
Japanese food lovers will be pleased to know there is a wide selection of assorted sushi and maki roll. These were also almost all gone really fast.
Didn’t have any room left to try the cheese but wish I had because all the cheese look so tempting.
Pan-grilled Rock Lobster Aglio Olio Squid Ink Pasta is cooked when you order. However, I could only consume one plate as it’s rather heavy. After this, not much space to try other delectable seafood.
There are so many choices in this wonderful seafood buffer, truly spoilt for choice here. I wanted to try the Crab Masala, Mussel Varuval and Prawn Briyani but there was barely any room in my stomach. That’s why I say I need two nights to sample everything this buffet offers.
You must save room for the beautiful and delicious desserts. The Mango Tart and White Chocolate Mousse Cake were especially good. The pastries are so scrumptious that they should have a high tea buffet. When I was done with the seafood, it was hard to find much space for the dessert.
The Seafood Buffet Dinner is priced at RM238 nett per adult and RM119 nett per child (aged 6 – 12 years old), available on Fridays and Saturdays, from 6.30 pm till 10.30 pm.
