I purchased 2 massage deals from Dealmates in the same week, 2 days apart. One of them was the Sensual 5-in-1 Energy Accu Hot Stone Massage at Commy Beauty Centre. I had a choice between 2 outlets – Jalan Radin Bagus, Sri Petaling or Jalan Kuchai Maju 1, Off Jalan Kuchai Lama. Although I am familiar with both areas, I chose the Sri Petaling outlet as there are lots of restaurants there and I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone by having lunch there after my appointment.

Although my appointment was confirmed at the Sri Petaling outlet, I received a call a day before my appointment asking if I’d mind going over to the Kuchai Lama outlet. I didn’t mind at all since it wasn’t as if I had to go much further away from my original choice.

I always ask for the 1st available appointment of the day as I dislike having to wait around for other customers. Experience has taught me that if I make an appointment for say 2pm, it’s likely that I have to wait for therapist to finish with the prior appointment as some customers may have arrived late and therefore their appointment finishes later than scheduled.

When I arrived at the outlet at 10.30 a.m., I was offered a cup of hot ginger tea and not asked to fill up unnecessary forms, a big plus point, in my opinion. The therapist brought out a tub of water to soak my feet. I thought that was good because I dislike having to bare my smelly feet in front of strangers to massage. There was no prior consultation with the manager before I was ushered into the treatment room (there are 4 in this outlet).

The room is quite small but adequate. I was asked whether I wanted to store my bag in the locker but since I didn’t have any valuables, I decided to place my bag on the floor. I changed into the disposable undies and bra and lay on the bed waiting for the therapist to come in.

As the room is small and the air-con faces the bed directly, I could feel the blasts of air on my skin but I’m not one who can do without air-con or less strong air-con as I can get a headache. My therapist was Jane from Sabah. She explained the 1st step of the treatment to me. I was to lie down on the green plastic rack (pic above) for 10 minutes. This was to help straighten my back/posture. It felt uncomfortable at first because I am so used to lying down on soft surfaces but after a few minutes, I soon got used to it. There was only a thin strip of cloth to cover my body, I did wish they had a blanket.

Next step was the Accu-Meridian Massage where Jane used the metal rod device to massage my arms and back. This was the part that felt a bit sore and even ticklish at times but for the most part, it was tolerable and at no point was it unbearably painful. Jane was very good in that she kept asking me to let her know if she was using too much force. Apparently, this 20 minute treatment is to stimulate the lymph nodes.

The next part of the treatment was the one I enjoyed the most as it was aromatherapy massage with lavender oil. Jane is very experienced as she has been with Commy at their 1st location at Jalan Hujan Rahmat 1 in Overseas Union Garden more than a year and a half ago. She used her palms, knuckles and fingers to relieve my tensed up muscles. It made me want to go back there again for a repeat session.

Half an hour of the massage over with and it was time for the hot stone massage. That was a bit brief but it was good nevertheless. 2 stone were used and it didn’t feel scalding or too uncomfortable. The stones were left on my back fora few minutes and then it was almost the end of the entire session.

After the head massage, I was offered another cup of hot ginger tea. I saw the manager but she was in the middle of a facial. She just asked me about the session and that was it, no hard-selling or being asked to sign up for a package. Just for that alone, I will be going back to Commy.
