There are some scents that you will always remember, no matter how long ago you first took a sniff at. I remember the first time I checked out Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins™ Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom range. It was dislike on first scent.
Every product had a herbal, almost medicinal scent and I just couldn’t bring myself to like it until I signed up for a facial package and their beautician used this range on me. It’s strange how I came to grow accustomed to the scent and even began to like it while lying down and getting my face applied with just about every product in this range.
Now this is a range formulated for people with sensitive skins as it is said to help calm and soothe irritated skin. I don’t have sensitive skin fortunately but of course the range can also be used for all skin types.
During one of the workshops held last year, I received samples of the Mega-Mushroom Cleanser, Serum & Cream. They’re reasonably sized samples which can be stretched to a week’s usage, much better than receiving samples in sachets, for sure.
(1) Face Cleanser
This is a very gentle milky cleanser which is described on the Origins website as being able to remove makeup, dirt and impurities. Having tried and tested more cleansers than I can remember, I always know when a cleanser won’t be effective to remove my makeup just by the feel of it on my face. This one didn’t feel like it could remove all traces of makeup as my skin didn’t feel squeaky clean. It doesn’t dry out my skin but it’s best used in the mornings or on days when you have no makeup on.

(2) Face Serum
This is a lightweight serum which I venture to say would suit those with oily skins because of the texture. Due to its liquidity, only a little is required so the 6ml sample I have lasts longer than a week. I like it because it’s hydrating on its own, even before I proceed to apply the face cream.
Original size is 30ml priced at RM240 or 50ml priced at RM330.
(3) Face Cream
This is the perfect night moisturiser as it’s so hydrating especially when applied after the serum. It’s thicker than the serum but just as easily absorbed with no greasy feeling. Not having sensitive skin, I can’t say whether this moisturiser really helps soothe irritated skin but it is one of the best moisturisers I’ve tried as my skin feels hydrated for hours after application.
