Celebrating its 37th anniversary this year, Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) unveiled a time capsule dating back to 1990, while giving back to the community of Subang Jaya.
SJMC has been at the forefronts of the Malaysian private healthcare industry, having opened its doors in 1985. Since then, it has become a hospital known for pioneering many firsts and is a recognised name for medical tourism as it continues to ride the wave of innovation for medical excellence. Just last month, the hospital was named Best Hospital of the Year 2022 by Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Best Practices Award for a second consecutive year.
“At the heart of our celebration is people. As I look around this room, I honour the rich legacy of SJMC to those who have laid strong foundations through their expertise, unwavering passion, and dedication throughout the past 37 years,” said Bryan Lin, Chief Executive Officer of SJMC, during his welcome note to a gathering of former and present SJMC leaders and staff, some of whom had joined virtually from outstation and abroad.
He added, “Today, we continue to build from strength to strength, locally and regionally. One of our strong local supporters have been the people of Subang Jaya. Many babies of Subang were born here and went on to build families. So, on this special occasion, it gives me great joy to give back to the community of Subang Jaya.”
Lin presented a mock cheque for 37 complimentary 3D mammogram screenings to YB Michelle Ng, State Assemblywoman of Subang Jaya and another mock cheque to Kelvin Chew of Persatuan Bantuan Kecemasaan Dan Bomba Komuniti Subang Jaya in support of the Subang Jaya community ambulance. He also presented long service awards to 33 doctors and staff members who have served for 31 years and more.
The celebration also saw Mustamir bin Mohammad, Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) Board Member, Peter Hong, RSDH Group Chief Executive Officer and Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas, RSDH Group Medical Advisor, join Lin to unveil the time capsule. It contained a photo album and scroll with signatures of those who witnessed the opening of the hospital’s Outpatient Centre in 1990. The celebration was hosted by comedian Harith Iskander and ended with a hi-tea at Café 35 where guests mingled.
The flagship hospital under the RSDH group, SJMC is accredited by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) and Joint Commission International (JCI), a globally recognised accreditation for medical services. SJMC’s laboratory is also an internationally recognised MS ISO 15189 accredited since 2009.
