Thais love salads, this is evident by the availability of “som tam” everywhere but sadly, I didn’t have any as I’m not a fan of papaya in salads. How ironic then that I should end up at Som Tam Urban Eatery at Siam Center where the menu largely consists of “som tam” but fear not as they have many other types of food. I noticed that every table had some sort of “som tam” or Thai green papaya salad, everyone but me.
I can’t remember exactly what the names of these dishes are but I will say that this is one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been to. The clear tom yam was exquisite with lots of different types of mushrooms and the fried fish delicious beyond belief. The fried chicken was crisp and I don’t know what spices and marinade they used but it’s one of the best fried chickens I have ever had so a repeat visit is necessary. Prices are better than reasonable as nothing I ordered was above 150 baht. Can they please open a Som Tam in KL? Oh never mind, Bangkok is but a short distance away thankfully!
