I know we blink thousands of time a day but I didn’t know exactly how many times we blink until I attended the launch of Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream a few months ago. We blink an average of 50 times per minute or 48,000 times a day!

Repetitive facial movements can contribute to damage around the eye area. As we continuously blink, smile and squint, these movements affect the appearance of the skin around our eyes and even accelerate signs of aging.

There are several signs of aging around our eye area:-

  • Dynamic wrinkles which can’t be seen when we have no expression on our face but once we start smiling, we see the lines when our muscles contract and our face has movement. Over time, contraction of the muscles form a permanent indentation and this is called “static wrinkles”.
  • Crow’s feet which are obvious lines around the eyes.
  • Crepey eyelids which is the folding of skin around the eyes as we age.
  • Cross-hatching under the eyes which are horizontal and vertical lines across eyes and cheeks.

Other than repetitive facial movements, skin around the eyes is also affected by lifestyle, sun exposure, environmental aggressors and natual aging. Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream, Clinique’s latest de-aging eye cream is the complement to my favourite Clinique skincare product, Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle & Photo Damage Corrector.

This eye cream may look ultra thick and creamy in the tub but it’s not as thick as it looks. Yes, it is rather creamy but when I tap it under my eyelids, it blends within a few seconds. Tapping it gently under the eyes is the best way to apply it as that helps promote blood circulation which in turn helps decrease appearance of unsightly eye bags.

I have been using this eye cream for well over a month twice a day and I find it very hydrating for my eye area. My eye bags aren’t so noticeable even if I sleep less hours than usual and the cream has had a smoothening effect on fine lines.

It is important to use eye cream which addresses our eye area concerns as our eye area is approximately one tenth the thickness of the skin on our palm and prone to dryness due to reduced oil glands and external assaults that can cause the skin to become even thinner and drier.

Overall, Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream has improved the appearance of the skin around my eye area, there’s more firmness and suppleness, reduced appearance of sagginess so that fine lines look less pronounced. As Clinique said, this is something to smile about.

Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream is 15ml/RM170.
