Spending Time To Look For The Best Prices Pays Off

The reason I like going to bigger shopping malls when I need to purchase something from drugstores is that I can visit more than one drugstore and compare prices. You’ll be surprised that sometimes there’s a vast difference between the price of a product in one drugstore compared to another.

For example, I was looking for a hair product to tame my frizzy hair and I was browsing through the Lucido-L range at Guardian, MidValley. I found a blue bottle Lucido-L Designing Pump Hair Jelly Smooth Straight and it retailed at RM21.90 at Guardian. Then I went to Watsons upstairs and the same product was RM14.80! With the difference, I can buy lunch or have a coffee or maybe buy lunch and have a coffee if I go to some kopitiam outside the mall.

I’d like to know whether you would also compare prices at different drugstores if you intend to purchase a drugstore product or whether you’d purchase the product at a drugstore without visiting other drugstores located in the same shopping mall to see if you can get a lower price.

Once you comment, you’re in today’s Giveaway and I am giving away these 3 MAC products worth over RM200 to one winner.

  1. totally agree with that I do look around before I buy cuz like u said there is a difference in price in different drugstores for same stuff like I have seen certain Korean shampoos being priced differently at 2 different drugstores. And I think one should look arnd, why not save on some money if u can. Not just drugstores I have experienced this in Ralph Lauren around the time when they opened the store in klcc and I was quite shocked to see the difference, a belt that was costing me 300 something in pavilion store was much higher in Klcc one almost double I wanted to tell the store manager I could sell him the same for half price I mean I dont expect that with a big brand and its not even 2 different countries…..

  2. Thank you Juniper for another amazing giveaway. Yes, I would for sure compare the prices between the drugstores because most of the times, there are vast differences between the price! We can really save a lot from the differences. So, it is the best when the drugstores are near each other because I have this habit to check the prices before I walk into the other drugstore and compare them. Then, only i will do my purchases > < .

Sometimes, even the prices online are different from the in store products or the brands real counter! I mean to be a smart consumer, it is normal to be comparing prices first before we actually make the purchases.

Also, one need to check for the expiry date as some were sold a low price due to the near expiry date.

If I am in a real hurry, there is no choice but to just grab and buy it out of desperation. Then we would not have the luxury of time to be checking out the prices with other drugstores.

So, I usually try not to make purchases in a hurry because sometimes, there is discounts or sales going on in another drugstore that is not available in the others. The differences of the prices can really be beneficial and kind to our wallet =P . Well, I am a scourge and yes, I will check those drugstores to make the best of my shopping budget and who doesn't want to save more so that we can spend it on other things?

  3. i generally go to watsons for my drugstore needs where i know prices are generally lower or at the best discount available. but i do compare items like vitamins and health products between stores because one may have it at a less expensive price or have a good promotional discount running 🙂

  4. I must make a long previsit to several drugstores with checklist in hand to compare prices before make final trip to buy. Time and energy consuming but worth every cents 🙂

  5. Yes, I do surveys before I purchase anything. Why should we pay more for a same thing when we can get it at a lower price just with some walking. And walking is exercise, so why not? I don’t usually buy things in a hurry because I usually have another new one standing by just in case I run out of it. Okay, I admit I’m a bit of a skin care products hoarder, so I have never ran out supplies. I always purchase my staple skin, hair and body care products whenever there’re promotions.

  6. Yes for sure!

I will compare the price before buying things. Sometimes there will be a big difference! For example, one store has promotion going on but not the others. Comparing the price can help me to save a lot of money. Besides, this is not a difficult job, just more walking is needed, that’s it. Moreover, I usually buy more when the product is on promotion and this can help me to save more! 🙂

Thanks for giveaway and have a nice day!

  7. Aha! I’m a smart consumer and I will always compare the price before I make purchase from drugstores. Basically I will compare the price between AEON Wellness, Guardian and Watsons, these are the places where I can get most of my favourite drugstores products. Sometime I will go for the cheaper price but sometime I will go for the freebies, you know, different drugstores will have different promotions, free gifts with purchase, Buy 1 Free 1 or 2nd item at 50% off. It all depend on which promotion is more attractive to me so I will always check the three drugstores before I make my final decision. If the product is retailed at the same price then I will make the purchase at Watson, because I’m a Watson member card holder and I can earn points by making purchase hehe! I don’t find it time consuming to compare the price among the drugstores, that’s why shopping is so fun isn’t it? To walk around, check on the products and their prices and finally make the purchase, I feel happier if I can get the product at a cheaper price haha!

  8. Yes, for sure I will go to several drugstores before deciding to bought any new product. Unless for emergency case which is at somewhere that is dont have enough choice. First of all I will check the latest promotion from their website or any other social network. Then will straightly go to the stores for price checking. We as customer should always make right decision while buying any stuffs.

Thanks dear for the giveaway! 🙂

  9. I will definitely compare prices of skincare and makeup between two of my fav pharmacies which are guardian and Watson. The price difference can be really drastic especially when they have sudden 3days sales where they sometimes slash items to 50%. I have a habit of buying several shades of the same range of cosmetic if I really like them, therefore comparing price is very crucial. I also factor in the ponts that I get through the membership card.

  10. Yes, for sure I will compare the prices within drugstore. And most of the time, not only drugstore I will also surveying around hypermarket in case they have some promotion as well.. Price comparison is a little bit about time and walking, to make it easier, we can always check the drugstore official website and check the item price online. This small act can save us alots of money we spend on personal care and skincare product!
