Clinique’s bestseller and perennially popular product, Derma White Clinical Brightening Essence is now known as Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector. Previously, it was known as Derma White Clinical Brightening Essence in Asia and Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector outside Asia. It’s merely a standardisation of the name, the product is one and the same. The benefits of the product are maintained so that the effects are retained.

I started using the product on 1st January 2012 and see if there were any results within 3 weeks. At the time I started using it, my skin was looking rather dull and I had a very visible blemish on my left cheek. The texture of Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector is thicker than Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum+ (please see pic below for comparison).

One pump of Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector is quite sufficient for application to the entire face so I believe this product can be stretched to approximately 6 weeks’ with twice daily usage. I don’t have the ingredient list at hand but this one doesn’t have the alcohol feel that is prevalent in the Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum+ although the presence of alcohol in that product doesn’t bother me at all. However, I am aware that people with sensitive skins may wish to avoid the inclusion of alcohol in any skincare product.

A bottle of Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector is sold every 11 seconds around the world. It promises to help fade the appearance of dark spots, age spots and discolourations due to aging, years of accumulated sun damage, environmental assaults and past blemish marks to reveal a more uniformly radiant complexion. There is apparently a verified 53% improvement in skin tone after using Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector for 12 weeks.

Clinique’s patented CL-302 complex is the key ingredient which helps improve evenness of skin tone. It’s been formulated to be non-irritating so that even those who are intolerant of skin brightening treatments can use this without any adverse reactions.

Yada yada…..does it really live up to its claim? Well, if you read my previous experience with Derma White Clinical Brightening Essence, you’ll know that I have had positive results but what about the results this time? After all, that was then and results may differ with each experience, right? Let’s have a look at the pics below.

I’d say my skin tone looks better than before I started on the product. For one thing, there is definitely more luminosity, more glow than before and my skin looks less dull and tired. There seems to be a slight fading of some blemishes and dark spots too. I think it’s thanks to the Glucosamine and Salicylic Acid which provide exfoliation benefits to help normalize cell turnover and assist the departure of surface pigmented skin cells for renewed clarity and brighter skin.

Dark spots aren’t going to disappear completely, we’d need more than a spot corrector or spot targeting serum for that to happen but we can use a product to help diminish the spots and keep them under control as well as prevent them from forming. Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector (previously known as Derma White Clinical Brightening Essence) is a favourite of many and notwithstanding change of name, it is one of those rare skincare products that really live up to its claim.

Taking liberties here but to paraphrase Shakespeare in Romeo & Juliet:-

What’s in a name? That which we call Derma White Clinical Brightening Essence

By any other name would work just as well

With its presence

What dark spots you have, no one can tell

Ooooh! Shakespeare would turn in his grave!

Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector 30ml is RM230 & 50ml is RM330 which is actually lower priced than Derma White Clinical Brightening Essence (wasn’t it 30ml/RM260 and 50ml/RM350?).
