Straight off the bat, I am going to say that I love flip phones just because they are so compact and can fit into the smallest of pockets. My non-flip phones sometimes stick out of my pockets like a sore thumb and there have been times they have dropped out of my pockets when I sit down. That doesn’t happen with flip phones, they take up so little space when folded.
I guess I am also pleased with the gasps of admiration for my loan flip phones whenever I pull them out of my pocket to take a photo. Seriously, who doesn’t love flip phones? I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 for the past 3 weeks and I love the design. With a 6.7″ display and weighing 187g, it is as compact as it gets. It has a cover display or FlexWindow of 3.4-inch Super AMOLED. When folded, the crease is barely noticeable/discernible. The display feels very smooth when the phone is unfolded. Galaxy Z Flip6 is more compact and has a new and improved floating design compared to Galaxy Z Flip5.

As for the build, it has a plastic front (unfolded), glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus 2), aluminum frame. It has a rather solid and sturdy feel but then again one would expect this, given the price point. However, it doesn’t feel as solid as the S24 series phones. It’s water-resistant up to 1.5m up for 30 minutes. Also, there’s an enhanced armor aluminum frame with tougher drop and scratch resistance. You don’t have to unfold the phone to chat as it can be done through the FlexWindow with Chat Assist.
Available in 7 colours, my unit is in Blue. The other colours are Yellow, Mint, Crafted Black, Peach, Silver Shadow and White. Crafted Black, Peach and White are online only colours (available on samsung.com). If I had a choice, I would go for Silver Shadow as it looks unique and being a darker colour, it looks chic and stylish complementing the cool design of the phone.
Although it has a 4000 mAh battery and is described as having Galaxy Z Flip’s longest-lasting battery, I found that it is not as long-lasting as my A series phones, namely A32, A33, A34 and A35, especially the A33, A34 and A35. The battery drains faster than the A series even when I haven’t used it in hours. Overnight, that is to say between 2am to 7am, it drains by 3%. Charging is also slower than my A series phones. This is the only feature of the phone which I feel needs improvement but it is a 4000 mAh battery after all.
It has the most powerful camera on a Galaxy Z Flip, now enhanced with AI. The upgraded 50MP wide rear camera processes your pics through the ProVisual Engine to capture stunning scenes and richer portraits. Capture stunning shots during the day but also at night — and even in dimly lit areas. Use Nightography to ensure every photo shines with detail, thanks to ProVisual Engine. FlexCam uses Auto Zoom to either zoom in or out on subjects and provides a preview on the FlexWindow for a hands-free selfie experience.

Additional AI features include Live Translate and Interpreter. The camera also gets an AI upgrade by ProVisual Engine which applies optimized image quality to elements of the subject for more picture-perfect portraits.
