Tractors Malaysia, the exclusive Caterpillar dealership under Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDISB), recently collaborated with four companies – Nestcon Infra Sdn Bhd, Landhon Builders Sdn Bhd, Seri Pajam Development Sdn Bhd and Pembinaan Tetap Teguh Sdn Bhd – to donate RM80,000 to the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO). The joint effort furthers SDISB’s commitment towards supporting initiatives that promote gender equality and women empowerment.
The amount was raised through a coordinated effort from Tractors Malaysia and its four key customers through the rental of a ‘purple’ Caterpillar 323GX Hydraulic Excavator. The contribution, which was donated to WAO’s “She Rises” programme, commemorates this year’s International Women’s Day celebration, themed “Inspire Inclusion”.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Liew Thiam Huat, Managing Director – Industrial Southeast Asia of Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd at SDISB headquarters in Puchong, while the companies were represented by Ir. Dr Lim Jee Gin, Director of Nestcon Infra Sdn Bhd; Yap Kian Hong, Director of Landhon Builders Sdn Bhd; Ten Fui Jean, Director of Seri Pajam Development Sdn Bhd; and Datin Angie Ng, Group Corporate, Executive Director of Pembinaan Tetap Teguh Sdn Bhd. Present at the event were Chen Binling, Director, Sales for Caterpillar Inc and Amnani Abdul Kadir, Partnership Director of WAO.
“The donation to WAO reflects SDISB’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its belief in the power of collective action to drive positive change. The funds will aid WAO in its mission to provide support, and shelter to women and children affected by domestic violence and to advocate for women’s rights in Malaysia. At SDISB, we recognise the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to thrive while at work”, said Liew.
“The recent International Women’s Day celebration serves as a reminder of the work to be done in achieving gender equality in our society, and that SDISB is proud to support organisations like WAO that champion such causes,” he noted.
