When I received this year’s Cosmo Beaute Exhibition brochure, I wanted to find out more about Tanamera Tropical Spa Products. They looked very interesting and there seemed to be a good variety. There are also four Tanamera Wellness Spa Centres in the Klang Valley, two in Terengganu and one in Kelantan. The Tanamera Spas specialise in traditional Malay treatments.
As someone born and bred in Asia, I have always had a fascination for traditional cures for ailments and wellness treatments. Recently, I paid a visit to Tanamera Wellness Spa Centre at 3rd Floor, Sooka Sentral, KL Sentral. 100% natural ingredients are used in their treatments, incorporating indigeneous flowers and herbs. These ingredients are free from toxic chemicals, artificial coloring, synthetic fragrance and chemical preservatives.
This Sooka Sentral Spa covers 2300 sq ft. of space and has2 VIP rooms with a shower/steam cubicle and bathtub, 2 single rooms with shared facilities (shower/steam cubicles are outside), 1 Malay traditional massage room with a “tangas” bench(“tangas” is an interesting herbal treatment for firming up vaginal muscles and reducing inflammations) & a hair treatment area.
Although this is a women’s only spa, I understand from the spa owner that they have male customers who come in to purchase the Tanamera Spa Products and indeed, during my visit, a gentleman stepped in to purchase something. They stock facial and body soaps, facial mists, massage oils, essential oils, carrier oils and many more items.
They have a range of foot spa treatments, 5 in total. There’s the Himalaya Foot Spa for detoxifying the feet & generating overall well being, the Warming Foot Spa for relieving muscle stress, the Cocos Foot Spa for moisturizing cracked and dry feet, the Traditional Malay Foot Spa for soothing tired and aching muscles and the Organic Sugar Sensation for gently peeling off dead skin.
Different body massage oils, scrubs and body masks are used for different body treatments, for e.g. Basil Oil, Tropical Boreh Scrub and Ginger & Kaffir Lime Body Mask are used for the Tropical Boreh Treatment which is a heat therapy for muscle pains and aches. The Boreh Oil reminded me of Chinese medicated oil which is used to alleviate headaches. Another scent which I liked very much was the Green Coffee Oil which is used during the Tropical Coffee and Cocoa Treatment. The Coffee Scrub is applied during the treatment and it’s blended with aromatic Malaysian coffee, rice and herbs such as Kaffir lime and pandanus leaf. Truly exotic!
A variety of facials to suit each type of skin is also available. For more information on the services offered, please contact 03-2785 1815 or email them at tanamerasooka@gmail.com
