When it’s the first few days of Chinese New Year, food options are rather limited as so many restaurants and my usual haunts are closed for a few days with some closed till next Monday and who can blame them? Everyone needs a good rest. I was at Giant Sungei Wang this morning (newly re-opened after the refurbishment) and spotted Uncle Jack’s Fried Chicken right in front of Giant. A queue was building and it wasn’t even 12 pm yet. So out of curiousity, I joined the queue.
The first thing that struck me was the prices were so reasonable. 5 pieces of chicken with two drinks at RM16? Where to find? I settled on the Crunchy Meal which comes with one piece of chicken, onion rings and five pieces of nuggets. You also get a choice of drink, ice lemon tea or soft drink. This set is RM7.90.
The nuggets and onion rings were mediocre and lukewarm. However the saving grace was the piece of chicken, so tasty and crispy. It was quite moist and thankfully not as cold as the sides. Good fried chicken here and they had an endless number of customers.
