image004Korean candle artist YoonJu Park recently collaborated with Maison magazine and La Mer to re-emphasize the idea of upcycling (upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value).

A La Mer devotee herself, she set out to create a candle that was inspired by the purity and healing effects of La Mer. The candles were made of soy wax and features three delightfully clean and refreshing scents – Italian bergamot, Australian petitgrain and English peppermint. And the clincher? The candle holders were made from empty La Mer jars. The idea was presented to the Korean public recently at the Maison upcycling showcase. Entitled Scent of Ocean, it also featured many works centered around the upcycling theme with the La Mer candles being the highlight of it all.

  1. Nice !! It is indeed very difficult to find the heart to discard the empty porcelain jar just like that. It would be super nice if La Mer Malaysia also have similar activity as well.
